Z51 constraint: anyone have good information on how long this will last?
Not really asking for guesses or opinions, but asking if someone has a reliable scoop on the time till Z51s go back into production. Thanks!

They were technically never out of production. Just the ones that are scheduled for each corresponding built weeks in the future.
Cars that are coming off or going through the lines now have been scheduled weeks, maybe even months ago.
I have good faith that despite "0" being shown nationally on many dealers internal sites, Z51 optioned cars for high allocation dealers do trickle in and get in during the constraint.

have heard from a dealer a minimum of 6 months on the constraint.
heard from a different dealer 6-12months before this issue is resolved...i too believe some will trickle through...

And perhaps a more important question is actually what percentage are they going to allow through vs being free flow? They might be on "constraint" for 6-12 months but if they get to the point were 40-50% are allowed I think all will be okay.

When they said zero for build date 12/2-12/8 they mean zero for that build week. Each week they issue constraints for the coming weeks. If you see 5 then there is a % they will build.

I have no inside info but my thought is that the constraint involves actual parts not being available and I also believe it is marketing driven. They want to sell a certain amount of base cars and this is a good way to balance that out.

My salesperson (who is in the know, the best salesperson at my dealership, won numerous awards, knows a lot about Corvettes and has the number of one of the drivers who trailers the Corvettes) told me yesterday that the constraint should be off in a few weeks. Good news! Still not news to me as I have ordered competition seats, the seal of doom.

If anyone who is in an "official" capacity with Corvette and using Corvette Forum, please provide us with an "official" response - perhaps, the Bowling Green Plant Manager. I honestly believe that if Will Cooksey was still involved with the day-to-day operations, we would be able to get an "official" answer! Now, how about it?? Thanks!

You should trademark that.

Just left my dealer 10/23/13. No Z51's yet. No one truly knows, not even the dealers. It's week to week right now. If anyone gives you any other dates it's not based on facts.. Unless they are management at the plant...

Thanks...I had the same experience with my dealer - and, I really believe the Corvette dealers have been left in the dark, as well. That was one of the main reasons that I wrote my post - "If anyone who is in an "official" capacity with Corvette and using Corvette Forum, please provide us with an "official" response - perhaps, the Bowling Green Plant Manager." We need an "official" Corvette spokesperson with some backbone to SPEAK-UP!!!

Just got the call, we have allocation, but we cant get the Z51 however the CF roof is available. I said "pass, it's not even the same car as far as I concern". This is the third freaking time this has happened and their last allocation. I placed the order back in June! GM sure knows how to alienate some people. Their order system is not right or fair to the customer. And it's no wonder that many dealerships don't want to bother with corvettes, the antiquated ordering system and having to disappoint customers. As of today no new GM products will be purchased by my family or my companies....for as long as I live. GM basically tells the customer (me) "screw you". OK, I got the message and right back at ya!
