C7 vs 458

The 458 is one of the best super cars in the world. I have driven them and all I can say take every first enjoyable experience in your life and combine them all and that what its like driving one. Its sad knowing Ferrari is going to turbo's in order to meet new EPA laws. High revving naturally aspirated motors will be gone sooner than we know it.

Love the 458 but I just can't spend that kind of money on a car. It all goes back to the "Best Bang for the Buck" for me and the C7 is the hands down winner.

Beg to differ. The 458 shifts so much quicker than the C7 it is not a contest.
I have both cars. Don't get me wrong. The 458 is not worth 3X the Vette, but the Vette ain't keeping up with it.
Both great cars

The 458 is sweet, my neighbor has one and you can hear that thing coming down the street from a quarter mile away. It's got such a distinctive sound and it's damn sexy too! The C7 is not quite in the same league, but it's pretty darn close and definitely a lot more affordable! (I don't know the pricing of the 458 in the US, but up here the C7 is about 1/10th the price of a new 458!) I do know this, if my lottery numbers come up I'm getting both of them

C7 vs 458
I see them both as Swiss Army Knives. Both fully capable and delightfully engineered. Both the best model of their brand. Both inspire emotional connections to both their owners and the public. Both perform very similarly according to most all testing results.
One is modesty priced in the the category and readily available - the other is priced in the arena of the affluent and far more difficult to obtain.
One design is carved and shaped both with aggressive lines and historic familiarity - the other design is . . . well . . . . pure sex.

Only thing the 458 needs to make it perfect is some more low end torque.
I agree with Fasttoys - will be a shame to see the NA Ferrari mills go away, particularly their fabulous V12, but also their V8.

Quick check indicates $257,000 MSRP on 2013 458 Spider. Hard to relate that to a $57,000 MSRP in any way whatsoever.

The 458 drives like nothing you can imagine. You have to experience it. It's got 100 horses on the C7, but it doesn't feel like it at all. It does have a very strong feeling of "connectedness" about it. It's visceral. It's almost like it speaks to you not only through your hands on the wheel, but also through every part of your body, from you ears (it's loud as hell) right down to your foot on the throttle. It's immersive. I'm starting to understand what these Ferrari guys are talking about. There's really nothing like it. I once said that even if I had the money, I wouldn't spend $300K on any car. Well, after today, I may need to rethink that.

I got a chance to drive a 355 Spyder. I was riding with the owner, and he got out of the car at a stoplight. I was wondering what he was doing, and threw the keys to me. I had just met him, too. That car was really a thrill. I also got a chance to drive a 328 Quattrovalvole for a weekend a long time ago.
Ferrari's are really special, and really have personality. Corvettes have their own personality, a certain rawness, and that's a good thing, too.

I just got home after a short drive with friend in his 458. Let me say right up front this is one of the finest cars I've ever seen or driven. It's very hard to describe how it feels to drive one of these (maybe I'll give it a shot one day, but that's a whole different thread, probably not suitable for this board). The photo you see here is the actual car. My car is, of course, the Cyber Gray C7.
Without saying too much, I'll simply say the C7 can quite easily deal with this particular Italian. Trust me on this.

A 458 will absolutely stomp a C7 on a track. So don't say the C7 can quite easily deal with a 458, that's baloney.

So approximately $225k buys you two seconds. I would argue, with average drivers, the C7 would definitely hold its own on any track. Additionally, I would argue the average Ferrari driver is not going to push the car anywhere near its limits.
Can't wait for the C7 Z06/07!

Personally I like the looks of the C7 over the 458, but I'm a vette junkie, so that's obviously somewhat biased. The vette does need a modern auto/ DCT tranny to keep up with the times, as we've all talked about alot. Other than that, there is the " feel" of how everything comes together in the 458, by all reports, that sets it apart. Certainly a rush I'm sure. Ferrari's have never done much for me and I have no desire for one, but hey if it rings one's bell and you've got the coin, go for it. I get my kicks by sending my vettes to LPE, and for cheap money compared to the outrageous up charge for the Ferrari, rings my bell to the max. Just wait till Lingenfelter, Callaway, and other well regarded forum tuners work their magic on the C7 and the Z07 etc come out.
