Default NY Times publishes great review of the C7

Haven't seen this posted yet. So, here you go:

BEHIND THE WHEEL | CHEVROLET CORVETTE STINGRAY
Stingray Returns With Styling à la Mode

While the Corvette’s 61-year history has included some spectacular cars, aspirations for the 2014 model are the highest yet. The Stingray badge evokes the beloved second generation.
By EZRA DYER
Published: November 15, 2013

Imagine, if you will, that an unnamed manufacturer just released an all-new sports car. It rockets from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.8 seconds, pulls more than one lateral g on the skid pad and has a carbon-fiber hood and roof. The interior includes dual high-resolution screens, top-quality materials and the option of racing seats. The manual transmission, with 7 forward speeds, will execute rev-matched downshifts, and it’s mounted at the rear of the car for optimal weight distribution.

Other serious performance hardware include a dry-sump oiling system (which keeps the engine lubricated during neck-straining cornering maneuvers), an electronically controlled differential and magnetic ride-control suspension. All of this is concealed beneath bodywork that’s thoroughly dripping in exotic, low-slung menace.

If Porsche made such a car, it would cost $125,000. If its fenders wore Ferrari badges, it would cost $200,000. But we’re talking about a Chevy with a starting price of $51,995. And this fact blows our minds just a little bit less because the car is a Corvette. Where that particular vehicle is concerned, we’ve come to expect outrageous returns on our dollar.

(see link above for the rest of the review)

Good review. World class sports car without the need for the "for the money" qualifier.

Interesting....the Times isn't usually a domestic auto or particularly a GM fan. Good to see...

What a surprise, another positive review. It looks like the only folks that don't appreciate the C7 are here on the forum.

Ezra Dyer has written essentially the same review now for:

Automobile Magazine
Mens Journal
New York Times
Yahoo Autos

And probably others...widely syndicated automotive writer.

I'm not knocking his review...I agree with it and applaud it...but you've read it before...not necessarily "another" review.

Most people don't read the by line and it's great to see his positive view of the C7 is being spread amongst many different publications....just imagine if it was negative how much exposure that work have gotten...

C7 is a game changer. Breaks all boundaries. All my clients & colleagues in Europe and Asia would die for one for the price we Americans pay.

At the Miami International Auto Show... we noticed eveyone loves the new C7 on display for consumers to sit/touch and the common phrase was "wow what a car for 51k!" They had a yellow standard coupe w/ the roof off in the Chevy section.

Great article! This begs the question.....Why doesn't GM/Chevy had a "hi-end/luxury" brand for Corvette and other models?

Cadillac for GM, ZR1 for Corvette(Chevrolet) don't fill that bill?
