I was wondering if anyone has gotten a reduced price on renewing XM Radio lately and what were the circumstances. Thanks ahead of time for any info.

Just ask them to renew at a special rate, if they won't, ask for the disconnect service rep. Then, they will give a special rate before they lose you as a customer. I've been doing this for 5 years, works everytime......my rate 6.99 per month for 1 year term.

If you cancel and can wait, they will mail you an offer of $25 for 5 months a month or so after you cancel. If you can't wait the offer above is the standard discount for 12 month plan.

But whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CC NUMBER. Have them send you an invoice and send them back a check

Four and 1/2 years ago I bought the lifetime plan for my Lexus for $350. It's more now because of the royalty fees but I'll try when the free year runs out. You do know we've got a year right?

I got my SiriusXM paperwork in the mail today for my trial account (a month and a half after getting my car). It has the trial period end date (12 months from purchase) and very small print saying that you will be automatically renewed at the going rate unless you have canceled prior. Very easy to forget over the course of 12 months.
I placed a calendar reminder in my Outlook calendar with my radio ID, trial period end date, and a note to cancel the service so I don't get auto-renewed. If you use calendaring software I recommend you do the same. Otherwise write it on your wall calendar.
While we're on the subject of trials and auto-renewals... Does anyone know if Onstar also features customer retention discounts? I might actually keep that one going if I can get the price down a bit.

Lifetime sub when I bought my Camaro last year was over $800. But it is the only way to go if you don't plan on getting new cars more often than ever three years. Becomes a selling point when you do sell it, too.

If you trade cars (rather than add one) it can be transferred to the next car for a small fee (I think $35) or free if after three years. When I sell or trade the Lexus I'll transfer it to the next car.
