My C7 will be an antique before I get it. NOT HAPPY. I think I will just let someone else have it, Talk about price dropping when you drive it off the lot! Here is what will be available at the dealer-coming soon. C7, Torch red, 3LT, Z51, blk. wheels, red seats, auto trans(THE CHEAP 6 SPEED), NPP, Red calipers, hood stinger, cf interior, cf mirrors and spoiler. Send me a PM if interested, I will let the first five interested parties know when it arrives. It is near Dallas. It was at code 3400 about 2 weeks ago. I'm going out to the garage and hug my C6.
Just remember, don't stick your tongue to any of the exposed metal parts ...............

Exactly! This is a nice bit of redemption for those of us who doubted his statement at the time and then got slammed by the usual acolytes here on the Forum who would tolerate no criticism.......

What do you think will be the difference in 1/4 mile time between the 6 and 8 speed?
Is this making anyone cancel their 2014 orders?

I just came in from the garage, where my 2012 C6 received a fresh coat of Rejex, had the seats cleaned and conditioned, windshield polished with Jaguar windshield paste, all windows cleaned inside and out (including the difficult rear glass), and the wheels & tires treated.
I then stood back, admired my Carlisle Blue Metallic beauty, and said...
"Yeah, I can wait for 2015..."

If one assumes that the gears are evenly spread so that the ratio between gear n+1 and n is the same for all single gear changes, then here's what you learn:
6L80 - gear ratio spread = 6 (4.027/0.667)
8L90 - gear ratio spread = 7
7^(1/8) = 1.27537
6^(1/6) = 1.34801
So, if eight-gear is 0.667 then first gear is 4.667 versus 4.027 for the 6L80e. Next, the gear ratio between successive gears drops from 1.35 to 1.275 in going to the 8L90(e?), i.e. tighter gear ratios. If you have a 6L80e with a 2.56 rear axle ratio, switching transmissions would be like changing the read end to a 2.97 (increase the ratio by 15.9%).

Perhaps you meant something sardonic, but, the gentleman does have his facts straight. I myself heard Tadge says those exact words in live speeches on two different occasions.
That being said, I'm not a double clutch fanatic or anti-Tadge. But, we can't pretend he didn't say those words on numerous occasions and in numerous videos during 2013.
At this point we are thinking C7 manual, but a DCT with a lightening fast shift would be worth considering!

Go something like this. an 8 speed is not needed in the vette, because of the bags of torque. to, well this is the best transmission GM has ever produced, lighting fast shift speed, uber economy, and faster around the track due to better gear selection. its a must have for any new vette. buy one of these cause the A6 is yesterdays news.......
Im sure he is smart enough to not use A6 and obsolete in the same sentence, after what happened last time.

While the A8 has a 7 spread, I doubt that it all will show up in the lower gears. I doubt if it will have a .667 8th gear, more like a .550(guessing at that number) so first gear won't be as low as 4.667. The 8 speed is more about fuel economy then first gear acceleration.

Yep you're right. Ole Tadge is gonna have himself a time "splainin" his way around this one. I agree he'll be careful not to even slightly infer the A6 is an over the hill has been. That would be akin to saying a certain part of a guy's body is not large enough.

I'm just not getting why someone who desires a DCT is considered a "loon"? Maybe it's an attempt to preempt those who would argue in favor of the DCT and maybe it's an attempt to use ridicule in place of reasoned argument. Either way it's an unacceptable form of winning an argument. Manual vs. auto has been going on for a long time. Seems that we should at least hear the cost/benefit of the DCT before we make a choice. Some pretty good automotive people seem to think it is worth at least pursuing. I have driven many Corvettes with both auto and manual and at this stage of my life I prefer a manual. However I am open to driving a DCT to see if it's something I would prefer. At the very least a sequential shift such as the C6R should be considered. Will the C7R sport a DCT? That may well point to the future for ZC7s. As Sgt. Friday used to say, "Just the facts mam, just the facts."

I wonder if he will stand on the stage and tell us the 2014 C7 is obsolete.
