Default 3M or SunTek Clear Bra?

I know nothing about clear bra's. A local SunTek installer says the 3M is crap. Any advice?

I just had my car done in Suntek - one of the 2 best films out there and is self healing. Very clear on the car and very hard to see.

A SunTek dealer says 3M is crap. Wow, what a surprise. I'll be getting XPEL Ultimate installed on mine.

Yes. It is pretty bad film. That is why none of the top installers in the country touch it. It has way too much orange peel, uses acrylic for their top coat (which cracks after prolonged exposure to heat), and the adhesive stays behind on the paint when the film is removed. They have always had yellowing issues as well.

Here is what can happen if it is left on too long. I have had numerous vehicles brought to me over the years that looked like this. Its the only film I know that will do this. And once it cracks it is impossible to get off.

Suntek And Xpel Ultimate are the two best films out there. To me Suntek is a little smoother and the adhesive is much better. But you cant go wrong with either film. they are the only two out currently that self heal.

Hey, can one of you with xpel installed post a couple pics, please? I am considering it as well, but am curious how easy it is to see installed.

I found an installer locally that does both Suntek and xPel. He says they are similar with xPel costing more mostly because of the warranty. Thoughts on this comment?

XPEL has a 10 year warranty, SunTek is a 5 year warranty. Pay a little more and get twice the warranty.

Default Films SunTek or Expel

Here is what all the opins tend to miss.

Applying any films on the surface with super adhesives are great (?) in the beginning BUT what is missed entirely is that when any repair has to be done the removal of the film is next to impossible without seriously damaging the paint and/or what ever surface it has been applied to.

AND if you let love bugs (the worst)(and other bugs) splatter the film and do not CAREFULLY get them off ASAP they WILL leave a mark in the film!!!!! (which looks like terrible).

The manufacturers are absolutely useless when you inquire about how to get it off. Most will say use a heat gun i.e. like a hair dryer. From hands on experience it will take a weeks tedious work heating and pealing the film that will release in only tiny strips. And while doing the work you will surely nick, scratch or gouge the under surface that then needs repairing.

Net, my question then becomes why use the stuff in the first place? Just keep the leading panels washed and waxed well and occasionally have your paint shop friend touch up and brick and buff. AND if you are doing some serious traveling just spray Pam on the front that is water soluble at the next destination.
