I was set on Z51 just because its more performance but don't plan to track the car.

What do you guys think?

If this was posted sorry, a Z51 search brings up 1000's of posts.
That extra inch in the wheels makes all the difference in the world going over low driveways

Wouldn't it be easier for you to not comment on a topic you have no interest in?

When you go to a gathering do you enter conversations you don't care to hear or do you just engage in what your interested in?

I am getting the feedback I want, I'm glad I asked this question. Why are you trying to derail the post? Did you read my last line about searching?

can you forward me the string that answers all my questions?

Why are you on this thread?

I see Rick Conti is selling base cars for $2500 off, so coupled with the $2,800 savings, that's $5,300 savings buying a base C7 instead of a Z51, today. Then, if your roads are pretty bad where you need the mag ride with your Z51, that's an additional $1795 savings available when selecting a base C7 with it's softer ride, for a total savings of $7,095 + approximately 7%($500) savings in sales tax on that $7,095. Now we're up to $7,595. Not exactly chump change.

I think base model are boring and doesn't have a wow factor for me. I owned a base C6 and always felt a body roll even with a Z51 strut bar I put on. I knew whenever the C7 came out I would get the stiffest suspension possible with mag ride

PM me and I can give you his contact info.

I'll say this........ there is a thread here about leasing from one of the dealers. The residual on the Z51 is 2% higher...... so I'd think the eventual trade in/resale will bring a better return. I plan to trade in the next couple of years, I don't keep mine long so its not a factor for me. To me for $2800 it is a bargain. I'd pay that day in and out vrs $1800 for mag ride or 1200 for NPP which dont bring much in my opinion.

I bought a 13 C6 last year. Looked at the Kerbeck site and he had 150 Grand Sports and maybe 8 stock cars. I think that is the way I look at the Z51 vrs the stock car. Z51 is just more popular.

Now for some $2800 could be a deal breaker and I understand that. Plus my dealer and others are discounting stock cars so that right there should tell you something.

Good thing is you really cannot make a bad decision!!

Good luck!
Dealer also stated the bigger brakes won't stop you faster but will stay cooler over a longer period of hard braking,i.e. at the track. He said this came up during the Nevada training.

Are there any posted stopping distances between Z51 and non? Hard to believe larger brakes wont stop quicker?

I went with the base Corvette for the following reasons:

1. I've had a 2007 C6 for 4 years and use it as a daily driver. According to the computer, the average speed is 28.5 mph and the top speed (once) was 95. I don't need more performance.
2. I buy the Corvette for it's appearance, not for the 0-60 in 3.9 - when am I ever going to need that?
3. I don't like the black tires and want to spend the money I saved on the Z51 package to get chrome, if I can ever find them for less than $1,000 apiece.
4. I didn't want to wait on the car. It took just 37 days for Chevrolet to produce and deliver mine from the date they accepted the order.

The Entertainment center is a little intimidating to a 70 yr-old, but I'm catching on.

Perhaps all the wrong reasons, but they're my reasons, and I'm stickin' to them.

My performance specifications for the C7. 0 to sixty - 4 seconds, top speed - 150 mph, lateral G's - 1. All my performance needs are accomplished with the base suspension. Actual performance that I personally accomplished with my C6. 0 to sixty - about 5 seconds, top speed - 130 mph, lateral G's - .8 G. I expect to operate the C7 within this performance range.

And dont forget about the $2500 brake job you will need at 20.000 miles and the extra cost of oil changes

Gm has stated factory Z51 brakes will last approx 20000 miles with no track use at a replacement cost of $2500, and the extra clearance is no different cause the non Z51 does not have the center gound spoiler on the front, Sve your money its the same car with less maintenance

To me I would get the Z51. $2800.00 for this package is a deal. Why do you think it's on constraint? My C7 would be a 1LT Z51 with Mag Ride and NPP.

Ouch I did not know that. That's $2,500 every two summers for me if true.

How often would the non-Z51 brakes need replacing in comparison and at what cost?

$2500 ????? That is VERY steep, especially with no track use. Can you tell us where GM stated this replacement cost? That may be the deciding factor as to whether or not I order the Z51 option.

I participate in this forum just like if I was a guy at the bar and talking to my best friends about Seminole football or our vettes. So, while we are at the bar, everyone can sip on their beer or whatever, and talk about whatever they want. Yeah...some will say things we just nod at ( yea sure as we send our "whatever" facial looks heading the commentator's way when the say things that seem irrelevant to the points of the discussion). BUT we are just participating in a discussion as we all have some various opinions so I just said what I want to say at my bar and my "listeners" can chime in as they have an American right to say whatever comes out of their mouths (I think, right?). Thank you all for joining me at my favorite bar! Cliff Claven where are you now? Oh...BTW...I got the Z51 option on my coupe as I did want the black wheels instead of something shiny that would not compliment the redness factor on the car and I wanted the other things that came with it as why worry about spending $2,800 more when the total car price is likely to be over $65,000 when you add up many of the options? There is no Z51 constraint that I have found as I just ordered my Z51 convertible on Saturday and it is at status 2000 as I write this now. Be mindful of which dealers have an allocation and what they can do with it.....

When and where did GM say this? That's a very short brake life.

To Z51 or not?

I did not see that before I ordered my Z51. However I still would have had to order it. That is the most expensive brake job I have ever heard of. Why so much? Where does this information come from?

My chain considers itself tugged.

It's SOOO important to use the correct terminology on this forum!

What we need is a separate C7 forum for those of us who didn't grow up in a garage or at Daytona and know as much about cars (other than we like them!) as we do astrophysics ... where we can ask stupid questions (to y'all, but not to us) without getting run out of town on a rail.

Pick the look you want in your drive way........If you like them equal. ...pick Z51....Simply is an incredible deal.I chose non Z51 and I'm very happy, good luck choosing, can't go wrong with either.
