Driving gloves?

I met a guy in Philly last year with a Ferrari 360 Modena that wore Ferrari racing shoes and gloves whenever he drove his car. He also would wear Ferrari cologne, shirt, sunglasses, and a 360 Modena hat.

Let's take a little walk back in time. Driving gloves were a worthwhile part of the sports car scene up until maybe the 70's. Primarily, the reason for driving gloves, was to get a better grip on wooden or hard plastic steering wheels. Remember the wide variety of aftermarket steering wheels prior to air=bags? Nowadays the grip issue has been largely resolved with the advent of the "soft" steering wheels. Cold weather might bring out a pair if you are driving with the top down in lower temps, but as far as grip, not very important anymore.

If you like driving gloves, by all means put on a pair while walking around your car. For everyday driving, I really never saw the need for wearing them.

If you want to wear driving gloves then do so, it is a free country so go for it....If you think it will impress the ladies...think again...at least not the Southern ladies. IMHO

Back when I bought my first new Vette, 1969 427/400 HP Coupe, my future Wife bought me a pair of driving gloves. I thought it
was the coolest thing ever riding around in the Vette with my driving gloves on. Now, the gloves and the Wife are gone. I am in a much better place.

This is to funny you guys..I'm reading about owners who bought splash guards and plastic Flim for your paint. Come on you all are guilty of doing something ghey upon deliver if your new stingray. And I'll bet $1000 dollars the moment you see another stingray on the street you'll wave like a school girl regardless of glove, splash guard and paint protection..love this forum!
lucky it wasn't woman poster. then all the vette snobs would be labeled sexist, or worse, republicans.

for those who ridicule the english, i submit that without post WWII english sports cars there would be no corvette, no corvette forum and no silliness like what's going on here.

Wear them if you want.
Buy tan/ flesh colored to avoid "hater" comments.
Gloves with a leather steering can prevent scuffs from rings and dirt/ oil transfer from your hands. Gloves also seem to reduce the wear w/ an alcantra wheel.
