$3K off now... How long do I wait for a sweeter deal?
I was pretty happy about the 2K off MSRP from some dealers considering my snobby miami dealer won't even talk to me if I mention the word discount on a corvette.
that being said, I see it's at $3K now for the discount. I got even more stoked about it
reading the thread regarding this discount, people are saying by end of this month to april time, they will be discounting close to 5K. Even saw a mention of 3K loyalty discount (which i doubt is happening)
I don't really understand what drives the price of the cars (I assume too many want Z51, so non Z51s are offered at less to get them moving) so I come here asking if anyone can speculate timeframe on when more discounts will come.
I'm already stretching my wallet buying a C7, so any discount helps. I wonder if waiting until february will do me any good for even better discounts? I would love 4K-5K discounts, which will bring my $57K C7 much closer to $50k (which is more money in my pocket)
What should I do? wait couple more months? I'm afraid the discounts are going to disappear and i'm back at msrp area??? 3K doesn't sound bad, but 4K or 5K sounds better and I can wait another month or two.
FWIW, I stopped driving my C5 Z06 so I can keep the miles off it until I sell it for when i'm ready for the C7. but the car's value is depreciating even when not driven right now because I guess it's getting old  I'm afraid the longer I wait, the less cash I'm gonna get for my C5 Z06.

Sell the C5 now. I sold my C6 to the dealer when I ordered my C7 in November to beat any more depreciation.
Now, to get the most discount on a 2014 non-Z51 I would wait as long as you can and as the 2015's approach and a dealership that has a supply of cars on the floor will likely offer more incentives to move the cars they have on hand. Some dealers have ~30 non-Z51 cars available today and that number will likely grow if they don't sell them as fast as their inventory orders come in.

I thought about a low mileage one... but it's gonna be a little bit I think.
although with the incentives coming up on '14s as '15s come up, a used one is going to be one sweet deal most likely.
there is nothing used right now for a good deal.

I hear ya. I guess best would be to buy it when the '15s hit the dealers in august or so. But I don't know if I want to wait that long

My suggestion is go used.

Drop? Sure. Drop like flies? Not so sure.
The reason is that this is an all new car and there hasn't been an all new car in a long time. There's a lot of pent up demand out there for people to upgrade.
Will prices drop? Of course. I don't see the edge of the cliff coming, especially in the markets like Florida and California for a while.

Safety Car
Reminds me of a story
Many moons ago I was going through "Computer Shopper" magazine to order a new desktop computer (1990's).......I called one company to inquire about prices and their salesman answered (in a tired tone).....I asked him how much would it drop in price if i wait a month, a couple of months.....finally, in an exasperated tone he said, "If you wait a year it'll be free........"
One can always get a discount based on time....but when is the right time????

$3k today can be had from right dealer (Z51)--after 'constraints' end in Jan, you will see $5K easy on Z51. They will be able to pump them out like no tomorrow--just like you see a ton of non-Z51's today. Those saying no probably paid full MSRP and don't want to hear the truth--just saying.
If you want a good deal--hang tight 30-60 days and working with the right dealer you will get $5K--PLUS any rebates (which there will be some)...just watch.

A lot depends on whether all the first responders have got their cars. Once that happens, a somewhat 'normal' situation will happen that takes into account the end of the model year run, the start of employee pricing, the conversion of the plant to 2015 options such as a new paint color as well as any other new options GM will introduce for 2015. Forget about a Corvette loyalty discount, that only happens when there is a fire sale of year end vehicles that must be sold to make way for a new model year or even a new generation vette. However, you should see some 'dealer cash' as they call it; it never hurts to ask for it, even on a lease deal.

I expect after the Detroit unveiling of the Z06 prices will drop as those wanting a Coupe have purchased. The sales are not off the charts so far, very brisk but no where near 2008 levels, we will see once the Z06 is added if this happens.

Is this a play on how much money one can save or do you want the hottest sports car on the market? It kills me listening to people cry over 2-3,000k while watching time go by. If 2-3k is that much for you then you're looking at the wrong car. Go to Honda or Toyota. No one wants to over pay for a car that drops 10K as soon as you drive it out of the show room, but that's been car reality for 100 years.
We're not here for a long time we're here for a good time! Go buy the C7 of your dreams and never look back.

I think a purchase in february will be a decent choice, followed by end of year '14s...
It's the seasaw of wait vs discounts.
I don't think I can wait a year but I will hold out as long as I can.
how do I find the invoice of a car? is that something that's on the sticker of a car?

I value the car I drive high on my list of things in my life, and it might be a little stretch for me, but after all, you're buying a $52,000 car.... It cost less than Porsche's Cayman S which compares to a Saturn sky in the line of GM vehicles. Don't act like you're buying some exotic You'd be getting into entry level coupes in BMW's territory...
2-3K is good chunk of change for me, and 4-5 is even better. if there is someone that can help me speculate when that'll be, I'll wait for the right moment to purchase it.
If a dealer came to me and said I'll give you $5,000 in cash so I can display your car in my gallery, I'd be tempted.
perhaps your pockets are much deeper than mine since you don't care much about 3,000
If money was no concern, we'd all be buying Z51 3LTs or Z06s. Obviously it is because some people are buying bare bones 1LT lol.
those incentives might allow me to get a 'free upgrade' into a 3LT

I have no idea why the Z would effect the price of the base car. The base car will get bigger discounts though with time. I think the biggest factor is the Z51 catching up with demand. The car will steadily go down for 12-18 months then probably flatten out.
But you have to weigh the value of driving a new Corvette for 6 extra months verses what you are comfortable spending.
