Only 20 miles on mine (weather is horrible) and I wiped them down twice in between two short drives -- both times showed dust. I think they'll dust up just like most stock pads. Z51.

Adam, thanks for the email. I'll file it away for future reference. I may get them before the spring trip when several of us from a local club drive up to the museum then west to R66 and out to the PCH then North to Frisco and a more northerly route back East. Will probably be three weeks of B&B's, State Parks, Great Food, Photo Ops, and a lot of braking for each .

Since you said these pads are not for tracking, do you have a general feel of mileage on them for normal road use?

We won't hold you too it of course , but might .

The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

Thanks Adam! Guess I need to give you a call when my car comes in sometime in the next month. Hated that dust issue on previous cars and the ceramic pads eliminated that frustration/issue.

In general we have seen 2-3 times longer pad life with the 1521 compared to oem. This was stated by a few police municipality's using them on crown vics. I see no reason for that to be different on a normal street driven corvette. In fact I have never had a repeat customer on the corvette forum for a new set of 1521's unless they bought a new car

The Carbotech website states that we will need to replace or resurface or rotors to use the ceramic pads:

If you have had another manufacturers brake pads on those same rotors; then you will ABSOLUTELY have to replace or resurface (turn) those rotors before installing the Carbotech brake pads.

I have not seen something like this before... if accurate then that will make it difficult for many. I would have thought it would be a drop in the new pads, bed the pads, have fun...

I realize it's from a prior gen Corvette and may not have been found in search above, but here's an excellent thread on a product. Relatively inexpensive, too. By now, there may be other similar products as well.

GM list cost, $172.00 (F) and $111.00 (R). Think I will look into those. I dealt with the same issue on both my 06 and 09 CTS-V's and ceramic pads took care of them both. If I tracked, I'd probably stick with the OE ones, but I have no plans for tracking the car. Pedal feel, firmness, etc felt the same as the OE ones, so I was happy with that experience.
The ceramic pad cost seems very reasonable.

Forget those GM numbers. The source that gave them to me was screwed up.

We recommend you clean up your rotors before putting on our pads. You do not need to turn the rotors. Lets face it you guys will not have that many miles on the rotor. The statement above is for folks that are doing a pad change after 35,000 miles. Just use some 60 grit sand paper and some brake clean.

I keep an aerosol window cleaner in my car. A quick spray and wipe cleans any wheel surface chrome to black and beyond. My tip for the day.

Default Z51 Brake Dust

Adam, I did as you advised and all worked perfectly. I used a sanding block that made it easy to hold. Did not spend a lot of time or use much force. You could see residue come off on the sanding block face. As I did with the calipers, washed first with Dawn and water. Then I was very careful with Brakleen as folks warned about it removing paint. I used it only on a rag and immediately rinsed with alcohol where I did use it, like on the inside of the calipers when the pads were removed. No problems with the paint on the calipers. Brakes are great, only cleaning the wheels when I wash the car versus after two trips into town (about 40 miles.)

Carbotech 1521 brake pads were recommended for our 2015 Z51 coupe. We ordered them from Adam Adelstein, and I have been raving about them to everyone!! The brake dust is absolutely minimal, and the pads do not affect the braking at all. Don't even think about anything else!! Do it!

Same here. I've never really noticed brake dust being a particular issue. I get plenty of dust from other sources so who knows if some of it is brake dust. But I've also found the chrome wheels to be really easy to do a quick wipe down with a damp rag and be good as new.

I suppose it might also depend on your driving and just how much you are using the brakes? How hard you are using them? Anyway, its not a big issue for me.
