I did a search on this first and found nothing. How is the Brake Dust on the C7 vrs the Brake Dust on the C6. My C6 was awful and went with Ceramic Pads. So whats the story on the C7 Brake Dust. Thanks ...

You guys have Z-51 or no? Interested in the dust issue with Z-51, as I will switch to ceramic too if the Z-51 sheds a ton of dust. I suspect though that the Z-51 isn't shedding much dust or there would be nine separate threads talking about the same dust issue.

On order: Torch Red Z51

RE: the Z51 brake dust, I think it depends on the wheels. From what I've seen, it's not as noticeable on the plain finish or chrome. But I've got the black ones and it shows up fast. I'll definitely be looking at the ceramic in the foreseeable future. I've got 3900 miles on her now and because I don't like such a nice car looking 'uncared for' , I've spent many a cold morning just washing the wheels (when the car needed nothing) .

I do not own one personally but, the 1521 compound is flying of the shelf for these cars. The big complaint is dust at least every order I have taken personally.

The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

Thanks for your input Cruiter. Spot on info for what I have on order. VY with Z-51 and black wheels. I see GM offers a ceramic replacement pad, part # 19156862 (front) and # 89026853 (rear) for Z-51. GM list cost, $172.00 (F) and $111.00 (R). Think I will look into those. I dealt with the same issue on both my 06 and 09 CTS-V's and ceramic pads took care of them both. If I tracked, I'd probably stick with the OE ones, but I have no plans for tracking the car. Pedal feel, firmness, etc felt the same as the OE ones, so I was happy with that experience.

The Z51 does make a lot of brake dust. With my chrome wheels most don't notice the dust, but I see it. It tones down the shiny wheels which I got used to and don't mind the look.

2008 C6 Z51 now 2014 Z51. Both with chrome wheels. The brake dust iseems to be about the same on both. On the chrome wheels they just look a little dull after a few days. Then I wash the car and start over again. I will say that the brake dust on my Jaguar XF is much worse.

Z51 with chrome wheels. I can go around the block and have the wheels covered in brake dust. I will admit that the dusting is not as bad now as it was but still very noticeable on the chrome. I have about 2800 miles on the car and the brakes and will replace with ceramic pads when the time comes.

I have a Z51 with black wheels. They really show the dust. The wheels look like they need cleaning after just driving a few miles……The shiny goes away fast!

I've got the chrome wheels too. I just take a damp rag and wipe them down after a few drives (until I wash the entire car).

Had a 13 GS and it was a real pain. With the C7 its much more tolerable. Both with black wheels and the GS was a lot harder to clean.

I have a TR Z51 with black wheels, and I can confirm that the brake dust from the stock pads covers the black wheels very quickly. I purchased and installed the carbotech pads on my front wheels a few months ago (rear pads weren't available until last week) and I'm happy to report that the brakes feel and act the same as before, except for a huge reduction in dust. Just received the carbotech rear pads today. Will be installing ASAP.

Those part numbers are NOT for a 2014 Corvette. In fact one of the numbers appears to be for a reman caliper.

Well, heck that's nice to know! Sorry for the mis-information. Do you have or know if Chevy makes ceramic replacement pads for the C-7?
