At first my response was like others here....find some ***** dude and tell her to STFU.

Then it occurred to me that you could really make this work for you. Is there something you want? Something that she has always said NO to in the past? Something say....in the bedroom

I'm not joking. Quid Pro Quo.

Let her drive it. How much damage can she do and it will create good will that should last many years.
It's a tough car, she won't hurt it.

I believe it depends on A person's personality. Some people will allow anyone to drive their C7.
Then there are other people who won't allow no one to drive it.
To me it's A car but not A $20,000 car.
If it was me and she can drive A manual I would probably say Ok.

Then out of the blue she says her mother wants to drive the car. My first reaction/words were, "NO!" and was steadfast with that contention. So, the argument ensued and it ended with me just saying, "Fine, do whatever" etc...

Her mother is about 60 and is pretty frail...about 100 pounds. The wife kept saying, "she always had a stick when we were growing up" but that was some beater 80s ford escort 4 banger. Plus, the last time she drove a stick is probably over 10 years.

The wife kept saying things like, "it's just a car" and "it's not that special" blah blah blah. Of course it's just a possession and I'm sure nothing will happen but I'm still not comfortable with it. If it was one of my buds who I know can handle a stick really well then I wouldn't mind. But someone who has only driven beater stick shift cars 30 years ago...I don't think so.

I just pussed out and gave in but still don't want her touching it. What's the right play here? Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Maybe if you asked her for a 10,000 deposit before she drives your car otherwise I would say definitely say no !!! I have only let 1 other person drive my car ( not even my wife even though she has driven stick and doesn't anyway ) and he was a previous 6 speed manual Corvette owner !!! Wayne

as a family lawyer for 37 years, a new vette is cheaper than a divorce. and much less painful.

good luck.

One more time: this thread was started almost a year ago, and the OP sold his C7 not long after. He doesn't need advice any more.

An 11 month old thread, a dumb OP, a car that is gone, and an issue that is ancient history.

Perfect for the renewed battle of the macho.

Seriously though, if you can find a big space somewhere and she is still an active driver using a stick, you might give her a go. Your call.
