My manual states quite specifically to do the jumping of the battery directly at the rear located battery and that is exactly what I will do if the need arises on my car.

My 2014 manual does not say to use the engine bay leads to jump the car. The gauge of the wire is too small to carry that high of an amperage.

The .75 amp maximum for my tender should not be a problem.

Yes, but it still sounds like a good location for a permanently connected cable for a battery tender. Right now I've got my cable hooked up in the back directly to the battery so the AC power cord has to go either out the back hatch or out the passenger side door and then close the door or hatch on it. I've never particularly liked that. But from the posts under the hood a cable could be run to the front grill work and hidden under the hood when not in use.

The comment was about reply #7 & #8 and jump starting from the under hood connection. I was trying to counter those two comments as NOT acceptable to do. I also have my battery tender attached to the front posts under the hood. I have the magnetic connector on the front of my car and if I forget to disconnect the maintainer, it will disconnect and drop to the floor as I back out of the garage.
