Default Black OEM Wheels

So I have begun the plunge...I have sold my C2 (had her for 16 years) and I am going to buy a C7. Deciding on color and options now but just can't seem to "like" the black wheels. Maybe I'm too old school?
Certainly seems the GM thinks that this is the way to go with all the advertising with the cars so equipped.
Wondering what percentage of cars are ordered/shipped with those wheels....

I don't care for the base rims and not willing to pay 1995 for factory chrome. So I am going with the black for 450 and if they don't grow on me I'll get aftermarket down the line. Although the black rims on Artic White look pretty good

Same here! I like the black but also want the option for something else as more after market wheels are available.

I think its an age thing. Mostly everyone I see not feeling the black is old school chrome.

I'd suggest you search other posts........ black shows a lot of dirt and dust which is hidden on the chrome or painted silver wheels.

I've never liked the black either, but they are somewhat popular. Thought I give them a try with Cyber grey, red interior and red calipers.

Black wheel with machined face gets it all - gives you the black look, a bit of polished bling and they stay cleaner than any wheel out there...

I have the black OEM wheels on my Torch Red Z51 Convertible, and I'm old school. Maybe I did get caught up in the marketing blitz as I have not totally warmed up to the black wheel yet. Maybe I'll look for some silver painted Z51 OEM wheels or an aftermarket black wheel with red edge stripe.

I don't think it is necessarily a "new school" vs "old school" thing with the wheels. It's just personal preference.

I'm 32 and do not like the black wheels. A lot of the high end sports cars are going with this look (Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche, even Camero ZL1) and I don't get it. The wheels have such nice sporty designs and then you paint them black so they look like spare tires.

Show off the spokes! I prefer silver finish to chrome, but at least the chrome showcases the nice wheel designs.

I have the Torch Red with black wheels, and love the look. But the black wheels are quick to show brake dust and not the easiest to clean. I only have 4K miles on the car and already see a noticable amount of rock chipping.

Speaking of the red calipers. After a lot of searching, finally found the car I wanted. It had everything on my "list" except the red calipers (it does have black wheels). Any suggestions on resolving that little issue besides buying new ones?

Several companies make caliper paint. Google is your friend

I bought the black rims and like them. However there are a couple of negatives.

1. The brake pads really throw off a dust, so the wheels get dirty quickly.

2. They are painted black not powder coated. The paint chips very easily.

Here is an idea if you really want the black wheels. Buy the base wheels and get them powder coated. Its cheaper and they would be more resistant to chipping.

I'm old(65) and not crazy about black wheels but on some colors like AW and TR they look good.

I am 54 and tend to favor chrome. However I will be getting black on my TR when 2015 orders begin. I plan to have the wheels powder coated as soon as I see chipping........which may be sooner than later judging by the posts.

Will turn 60 this July also "old school" but my new C7 Z51 7spd has the black wheels with AW/AR interior. I was 50/50 when ordering but I ALWAYS had chrome and decided to "get out of the box" and try something new. The car looks awesome with them. Also the red calipers add that nice touch.

The color of the car doesn't matter.
Black wheels suck.

I got the chrome wheels and when they get brake dust on them it just tones them down.

Clean Wheels

after 100 miles of brake dust
