museum delivery
Silly question to which the answer should be obvious - which means it probably isn't... Take delivery at a dealer and there is about a $1,000 freight charge. Take delivery at the museum and there is a $990 option charge. That's fine but the cost of museum delivery should be offset by no freight charge. Dealer prep maybe I can understand but museum delivery should be a wash. Am I right?

No.
All cars, every buyer, pays the same shipping charge, whether it's for across the street at the Museum or Seattle, Wa or Maine. It's a contract with the shipper to even out the shipping cost.

You pay the destination charge regardless of where it is delivered. This is contractual and I believe a legal requirement that the destination charge remains the same for each new car sold.

The fact is the car is still put on a transport and is hauled to the Museum. No different that if it was delivered to a Chevy dealer in Bowling Green (there is one). NCM delivery gets you more than just dealer prep.
