Default Decisions, decisions...

So I ordered my new C7 from a dealer in Jasper, Florida. I live in Camden, SC about 6 hours away (not to bad). For a couple of reasons I chose to NOT a a courtesy delivery to a local dealer. So, I have two choices:

1. Have Reliable Transport bring me the car at a cost of about $600.00.
2. Fly into Jacksonville for about $300.00, stay with my brother in Jacksonville overnight, then have him drive me out to Jasper, so I can drive the car home. Of course in addition to the airfare, is the price of gas & meals home to SC, and the $100.00 it's probably going to cost me to take my brother to dinner for doing me the favor, so it's pretty much a wash...

If I take option 1, I am told it could add up to two weeks before my car is actually delivered...

If I take option 2, I immediately put about 400 miles on the car and I have to buy my brother a steak dinner...

This is hard...

No, that choice is easy.

Option 2 - you get to drive it home grinning ear to ear.

Number 1 for sure no stress on you - no mileage or possible damage

I guess I should have added that all the way from Jacksonville to Jasper, I am going to have to listen to to him going on and on about his new girlfriend:

"Oh, she is soooo wonderful"
"She is soooo beautiful"
"She perfect, just perfect, oh so perfect"
"She even smells like she has fresh lilacs growing out of her butt"

After dealing with a couple different transport companies and finally driving my C7 home myself (also a 6 hour drive), I say go get and bring her home yourself!

(best $900 I ever saved )

Um, I know you're asking for some reason, but #2--duh!

Come on $400 who cares.

Glad you found one on the lot exactly how you want it (and hopefully large discount).

No, unfortunately not on the lot. She is a factory order just made earlier this week (and yes, I got a very respectable discount). So it's going to be awhile...I'm a planner....

Hey, maybe he'll be on to his next girlfriend by then?

You stated about immediately putting on 400 miles if that somehow is an issue. I don't get it. Were you not ever planning on driving the car?

I vote #2. It'll be worth it to see your brothers face when he sees your new vette.

You made a good choice for a dealer. Becky and Bruce are first rate!

Look at the drive back as a break-in opportunity for the new vette over the back roads of GA & SC...

I have heard that from some others as well. The dealership is small, but folks seem to really like 'em.

What's funny to me is looking at a photo of their facility, it looks like something out of the 1940s (which I find charming actually). I just wonder why GM is not forcing them to remodel. Two older Chevy dealers near me were pretty much threatened into multimillion dollar structural remodels (to take on that gray & blue corporate look), or lose all sorts of incentives...

I live in Florida a couple hours south of Jasper. Are you sure about allocations for your dealer and when you might get your C7. Doesn't seem like a high volume area compared to perhaps Columbia, Atlanta and Charlotte.

I would go with option 2. Drive and enjoy your ride home with it. That is what I did when I picked mine up from a dealer 255 miles away.

Atlanta & Charlotte are all about Hendricks and they have a pretty dreadful reputation. The dealers in Columbia are actually pretty limited (one or two allocations per store, MSRP all the way). These folks in Jasper, although small, have been steadily working on their Corvette allocations. I got in on late 2014 allocations to this particular dealer (#3 out of 8, I believe)

So they have an allocation and have ordered it?

I'm confused.

You asking about steak dinners with your brother, and you don't have an allocation?

Why do I have a feeling we are going to see another post from you in a month about why you're still at 1100

They say they have just received eight additional 2014 allocations which I am guessing will be assigned between now and mid-June when orders are no longer being taken. They have ordered the car and the car order does appear on the Chevrolet tracking website. I have a contract that states if I am not at least at code 3000 within 60 days, my deposit is returned. Actually, that 60 day timing works out for me (for a couple of reasons)...
