Default Timing Regarding Ordering, Production and Delivery

Several people have recently inquired as to various timing issues concerning ordering, production and delivery. As an aid to that discussion, here is my personal experience. I am working with a GM dealer that is allocated one C7 convertible every three weeks or so. I ordered a base model C7 convertible with 3LT, NPP, FAY, A6 and some other goodies on 2/18...code 1100. On 2/19, my order was accepted by GM...code 2000. On 2/24 my order was accepted by production control...code 3000. On 2/26 my order was scheduled for production...code 3300. On 3/1 my order was broadcast for production with a TPW of 3/17...code 3400. If that date holds true, my C7 will go from being ordered to being produced in approximately 27 to 30 days which appears to be very quick as these things seem to go. My dealer hopes to receive my car by the end of March or the beginning of April so call it 40 to 45 days or so from ordering to delivery. Based on others' experiences, is this just about as fast as this process can go? Thanks!

Yep that timing is about right if dealer has allocation.

Mine was 3-4 weeks.

I'm 3/17 as well

Congrats on your new Stingray! Your timing is pretty quick and you had FAY. Timing can vary after 2000. I hit 2000 on 1-21, had a TPW of 2-10 but wasn't built until 2-17. Will your car ship by truck or rail?

I ordered a 3LT Vert with Kalahari interior, Kalahari top and chrome wheels. I will be using this as a DD in good weather and for weekend touring and not tracking it so I went with the base model instead of the Z51 model in order to get a smoother drive for my purposes. That said, I'm disappointed that I couldn't get the Z51's chrome wheels which I think look awesome.

I'm not sure, it will be shipped to the East Coast.

I have been hearing story after story of cars going from code 2000 to the production line in a matter of days. This tells me the factory is fully caught up and except for a very few constraint items are producing cars almost as quickly as ordered. For those waiting, this is a very good thing. I wonder if they are going to be speeding up remaining 2014 allocations to the smaller dealers as well?...

I'd bet that because he ordered a convertible, the timing was sped up. I don't know if there are still coupe roof issues, but had he ordered a coupe, I think his TPW would be at least a week or two later. From what I'm seeing, some convertible orders accepted after coupe orders are getting earlier target production weeks.

The reason I asked is it seems shipping by rail is much slower than by truck. Your dealer can tell you if yours takes a ride on the train.

I believe those shipped to the East are done by truck not rail

My Z51 2LT ordered 1/16 and completed on 2/21. Finally on train 2/28 headed to Phoenix. 5 weeks from order to build from Les Stanford. They have plenty of allocations.

Stingray ordered 12/30/2013. LRG, 2LT Kalahari, A6, Z51, Mag Ride, NPP & NAV. Built on 2/11/2014. Shipper got the car on 2/14/2014. Dealer told me the car was scheduled for delivery on 2/26/2014. It's overdue as of 3/2/2014. It's coming to New England via car carrier, not rail.

I was told that most east coast cars (at least those heading north) initially leave by train and then sent to a terminal where they are loaded on to a truck for a "short" trip to the dealer.

Anyone had a Rick Conti delivery? Wondering about the shipping time to Columbus.

Also, what are the estimates from produced to shipped (3800 to 4200), appreciate any insight.

ordered mine from Conti on Feb. 18th, had it at 3000 in 7 days and will be built week of March 24th, expected delivered to him sometime April 5 to 9th. Couldn't ask for any quicker or better service and under MSRP.

It seems like non-Z51 cars are going through faster since there are fewer constraints. At least I hope so since I just used a non-Z51 allocation.
