C7 Navigation Disc?

The system doesn't have a cd player so my guess is that its updated by new software downloaded at the dealerships, but i could be wrong.

I would think there is a data card that is inserted, probably behind the display. Even though updates could be transmitted via OnStar, that capability hasn't been utilized, yet.

my SD card slot is empty and my nav works. My suspicion is that you use either an sd card or thumb drive to update the internal maps (my map is quite out of date (years) already, sigh)

From the Navigation manual: "Let’s move right in to the navigation system. . This marks the end of DVD based navigation for the Corvette. It makes use of a proprietary adaptation of the Navteq database. The 2014 Corvette navigation system is upgradeable via software download through a USB port."

I have Navteq working on my Pioneer Nav unit. They sent me an SD card to update and I believe it comes out in February of each new year. The $199 seems to be the price I recall paying.

As far as I know, when the NAV needs a data update it will require a trip to the dealer. As for price, as noted in a previous post, it's too early to know.

I wouldn't think they'd involve the dealer for a Nav update. No more DVDs but I'm pretty sure the update will be mailed to you stored on an SD card.

My guess is that your would download the data to a thumb drive or SD card direct from your home PC...

Not sure about the method loading the new maps, but i know that it was about $135 for the update. The system is so poor in my 15 stingray, that there is no way i am going to pay that.

I didn't have factory nav to begin with and the reason I upgraded my 2014 to use Apple CarPlay and their nav capability. Yes, the Apple Maps navigation isn't as robust as factory nav systems, but at least Apple Maps and POIs are current at no extra cost. Also, since this data comes from your phone, as it gets updated, so does your nav capability.
