The legal limit in TX is 25%, but you also must take into account the level of tint from the factory (I've heard 70%?).

Assuming 70% from the factory is correct, adding a 40% film would still be legal, adding a 35% film would be borderline. I personally plan to do a 40% ceramic at Pro Tint in Plano (http://www.thetintmaster.com/).

California is no tint legal. Everyone does it though. They typically will only give out a fix it tix and I have had tints on my cars for years and never gotten pulled over for it. Have got a fix it when getting pulled over for speeding though. This time around I went with 30% on sides and rear convertible windows. Looks great on my silver vert, but is a bit dark, hoping I dont have a problem, but boy it looks sweet.

Kinda hard to tell from this pic but I had just under leagel put on the sided. I think it's 28%. Looks awesome!!! Not real worried about legal because I'm not about to put the front plate on either!!
