Default My take on the Shark Gray 2015 Z06 I viewed Saturday at Sebring Race/pics

First things first...for those of you that are concerned about Cyber Gray Metallic going away after the 2014 model yr...don't be. The new Gray has metallic, is a tad lighter and very impressive. The blue speckles that are in the Cyber Gray Metallic are not in the new 2015 Gray but (in the bright light) to me it is equally impressive of a color!! Now I will admit the sun was very bright and that has a way of playing tricks on you but I think I got a good take on the color.
As for the 2015 Z06 itself...just awesome. I always had a love for the 1967 Shelby with the side duct work etc...this Z06 has it in spades! From every angle it's a winner. I am curious to see the color schemes available as there will be a new blue interior only available on the 2015 Z06. I will be at the Corvette Bash in Bowling Green, KY April 24th-27th...see you there.
Enjoy the pics I posted. Much better in person.

On TV with Jim Campbell(VP of the GM Motorsports Division) in the pits at Sebring. The Mobil Execs that invited me got me into the pits for 30 minutes during the race.

I definitely got close to the action Saturday.

Z06 video.

I was in the Parade lap moments before the start of the Sebring Race.

Very cool.

Mike, is there enough fender wrapping around the back of the front tire to keep the side of the car and those sexy flared rear fenders from getting sandblasted?

New Z looks hot. Can't decide b/n TSG and NRB.

Travis,

if you watch the Z06 video that Mike Furman posted above, it looks to me that the car will need
both front & rear splashguards to assist with protecting the paint areas behind the wheels.

Plus lots of clear-film...!

I'm sure the aftermarket will develop appropriate products.

Gary

I'd love to go the The Bash this year.
Unfortunately, I love my time on-track at Sebring more, and it's the same weekend.
Hopefully we'll get lots of C7Z details from those who will be in attendance.

Hey Gary,

Yeah I did watch the video. In fact I paused it at several different places so I could study the rear of that front fender.

I put clear bra on the rear fender flare and brake vent on my ZR. Has worked wonderfully. I know you've had good luck with the Apsis pieces on your ZR. Looks like the new Z will need something as well. I'll probably put clear film on the rear fender/flare/brake vent. Probably along with clear film on the lower part of the door (beneath the "crease") and the rockers.

The job on my ZR was pretty straight forward. The new Z has a lot of surface changes. I wonder if the Corvette Museum would be capable of doing those areas in Xpel and doing a great of job of it.

Doesn't look like it'll be as easy as our ZRs.

The new Z06 is just stunning... I don't care for the Z07 package because replacing carbon ceramic brakes when they wear-out is just too expensive for a street driven car, but great for the track enthusiasts with deep pockets. I can't wait to see the final pricing as well as the new blue interior.

One thing people will love about the CC brakes is the lack of or very little brake dust they produce..I can drive my ZR1 all day long and have very little brake dust even on the wheels when I had my 09 Z06 if I drove 10 miles it produced a lot of brake dust..When I do get my C7 Z06 it will have the CC brakes without boubt.

thank you for posting the pics.

I was disappointed that the 2014 did not have a color like my C5; Pewter Metallic. This Shark Gray seems to be very close to Pewter Metallic; and I am happy
