Default Infotainment HMI issues

Having trouble with my infotainment system. Screen shows only @asking for media update " times out after 20 minutes and then go blank and starts again. Dealer claims they have never seen this issue. See attached picture.

It needs a new HMI module. Hopefully yours doesn't take as long as mine. Took four weeks to get the new HMI and have it programed correctly. I ended up getting into contact with right guy who had it fixed up in short order.

It was a huge pain since the issue hadn't been seen before. If you have issues getting it fixed, I can forward you my case # which should speed things up.

Hoping for a speedy fix for you. 😀

Here you go. Hope it helps. Biggest problem was part being on backorder. If yours is not on backorder then 3/4 of the battle is over.

Post your C7 model years that are having this problem. It will be interesting to see if there is a bad batch of HMI components affecting certain year cars.

I posted this on another HMI thread....so you may get duplicate. Sorry but I wanted to make sure everyone has the info....

Called the Infotainment center HOT LINE. (855) 478-7767

There is a GM bulletin relating to this problem...it is 16-NA-341. The HotLine person was extremely helpful and was very familiar with the problem. She will call my local dealer's service advisor (the guy I saw yesterday) and inform him of the Bulletin. I have an appointment Monday to see him and a case number will be opened.

So if anyone experiences this, cut through the red tape. The local dealer service center probably will not be aware of the Bulletin.

Call the Infotainment HotLine. They will get the ball rolling.

I hope this helps!

Regards all.

The saga continues! Took the GS into service today. They had it for 3 hours before they finally gave in an ordered a new HMI unit. The Service Rep seemed a little ticked that GM called them and gave them the bulletin number...but so be it!

An appointment is scheduled for this Wednesday to have the HMI swapped out. We will see if they can get a new one by then.

More when it is swapped.

By the way if it weren't for this Forum and its members, I would not have had any of the information to proceed.

This Forum's collective knowledge is amazing! Thanks all!

My new GS (2400 miles) did this last week. I disconnected the battery for 5 minutes and it has been fine since then. Anyone have it happen multiple times?
