Default Painted Exhaust Filler Advice

For the people who have painted their exhaust filler plate black, what kind of paint did you use? Did you use a regular spray paint, or does it need to be a ceramic due to high heat? What about a clear coat? I have some self etching primer for stainless steel that I plan on using first off. Thanks for the advice!

Don't overthink this any flat black engine paint works...scuff it with 600 grit and 2 coats....nobody looks there unless you are in shows or whatever.

Agreed, I just don't want it to peel, or tarnish. So you don't think the primer is necessary so long as I rough it up?

go ahead and primer to be safe, mine is going on 4 months with a scuff and acetone prep but I'm in fla with nice weather. A gray metal primer won't hurt...
