Well Neal, that just stinks. Moist, humid conditions festering in your car emitting funky smells. You need AC in your garage to dry it out. Of course I would also suggest you watch The Weather Channel on the 8's to watch the local radar before driving.

There is no rational explanation.
I drove my C7 convertible today in a torrential downpour, and not only does it not stink, a through inspection revealed no permanent damage. I know that may be shocking to some, but I enjoy using it as an actual car.

I was in Florida back in June and drove in a Torrential rain for 3 hours on our way back to MA.
For the next 2 days, every time we stopped there was a fish smell coming from under the car.
It went away after the 3rd day.
There's also another older thread on this and many others have experienced the same thing.
Our best guess is it's the wheel well liner material

OK, now Dif is a trustworthy source. But I do have a keen sense of smell, and I've never noticed anything like that after a lot of rain exposure. I also powerwash the fender wells every time I wash the car, so they've gotten plenty wet and sit in my garage drying . . . no smell here.

To add, 2016 bought new on 10-22-2015 and it wasn't the 1st time ever driving in rain.
But it was the first time driving in torrential rain for hours.
The first stop, Valdosta GA, after getting away from the rain is when we noticed the smell after exiting the car.
Just thought it was the area.
Then every stop after that we knew it was the car.

I know exactly what the OP is talking about. My wife and I both started noticing a rotten/dead animal smell coming from our respective cars after driving in the rain. This started occurring after we moved to the southeast. After much thought and investigation, which can be found published in several highly respected, peer reviewed journals, here is my conclusion. Plus, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
The smell is from water along our small, local roadways. In our lush green environment, there are always dead animals (skunks, deer, frogs, raccoons, possum, birds) in and along the road. Throw in all the rotting vegetable matter, and these puddles along the road contain a nice organic, runoff stew. And this lovely water is what gets splashed up on the car, in the wheel wells, on the underbody.
Next, you pull the hot, wet car into the small enclosed space of your garage. Plus, the heat from the exhaust/engine and brakes tend to vaporize this water. Both these factors work to accentuate the smell to make more immediately noticeable.
After a day of drying out the smell seems to disappear. Anyway, this is my take and I'm sticking to it.

The car did stink.....it was heavy rain! After driving the car for some time the next day, the smell went away. I also wash my wheelwells and never had this smell before. Interesting to say the least!! My three previous Corvettes, C4,C5,C6 never did this....

It did work itself out. All water from the nook and crannies are gone and dry and car is back to normal. Park it in the sun as much as you can.
I posted this same problem and everyone told me NOT to worry.

It must be either the wheel well liners OR could the air filter (made in Thailand) be getting wet? Anyone know if water can get to the air filter if the curb side of the car goes thru a deep puddle??

Happens to me. I think it's the somewhat "felt-like fabric (?)" fender liners. Never had it happen to any other car I owned except the C7. Once the fender liners dry out the smell is gone. My garage is fairly air tight and I prefer to keep the doors closed, so unfortunately it doesn't get a chance to air out.
