Went with acrylic from RPI as well. They are both equally dark but the acrylic does have a raised affect on the side markers when looked at up close. The rear reflectors are recessed so they came perfect.

Nope, I just wipe down the lenses with an alcohol pad which was included with my kit. Peeled back the three sections of 3M adhesive tape and stuck them on.

vinyl...nice and smooth when you detail, don't stick up, and cheaper...

I went with the acrylic since I don't like fooling with tint. They're very easy to install. The side markers are raised from the rest of the surface with the blackouts on, but I don't think it's that noticeable.

I only notice mine if I am looking at them from a short distance.

Simple spray the light with soap solution and the vinyl, apply and
You can move it around, get it where you want it and use your thumb to squeeze the water out, done

Nothing is simpler as these pieces are very small and fit perfectly...

I got the acrylic first but I think they look awful. The vinyl ones are the way to go since it won't look like you glued a piece of plastic on your car. The acrylic pieces are about 1/8" thick.

If you heat the vinyl, it will take the right shape and most people won't be able to tell it's there.

I got the vinyl ones today, from RPI. They just stick on... Didn't come with any instructions or anything. I cleaned the side markers with a little water and alcohol, stuck the tint stickers on and that was that.

This is a really cool mod and they look great.

Just be aware that in the U.S. tinting of tail lights and marker lights is illegal. I had 20% tint on the windows of a previous car and while I was at it I tinted the tails and the side markers. I never got pulled over and passed inspection every year.

That being said, I know someone who did the same thing and got rear ended. His insurance company refused to pay saying that he had altered the vehicle in the way that made it not public road worthy.

He is fighting it as PA law starts they have to be clearly visible from 100' or something like that but it gave me a moment's pause before considering this mod.

I'm not saying don't do it. Just understand all the possible consequences

you "get it"......the acrylic looks added on...the vinyl does not,,,my vinyl is one year old, washed every week with 12K miles on the car, still look perfect and polisher/applicator glides right over them...

I'm with ya Glen, I originally had the acrylic because I thought they would be nicer. They looked like absolute **** because they stuck out to far. I then went with having the local tint shop tint them. After couple of months that looked terrible too, peeling up on the sides, etc. I know have the RPI vinyl and they look great!

the rpi vinyl kit are not cut to size very well to size for rear 1/4 panel ones and need to be hand trimmed sorta a waste of $$ imho think i am going to have to buy the nightshades spray instead for $15 per can.

In IL that would be illegal.
