In addition, I really want different colors for my ZO6 then what I see them offering at the moment. So far, I'm really not head over heals with any of the colors, although I do like the blue.

I also don't want to buy the 1st model year. I'm guessing the 2016 will have a few more upgrades and maybe a few ponies more.

I really don't want to wait up to 24 month to get into a C7.

I'm thinking about getting a C7/Z51 and adding a Supercharger, approx a $7k increase in price (stock HP won't cut it for me).

Any idea how much money I would lose when I go to sell my C7?

Thanks

P.S. My other option was to buy a used Z06 and hopefully lessen the depreciation factor. But I really want the C7
WOW.
Reading your post, you obviously DON'T want a Z06 (there is not ONE positive, only a bunch of reasons why you can't/won't buy a Z06).
I have NO idea how to answer this remarkable MAZE of wants/needs because there can be no answer.

So, ignoring the body of your post, modifying a Stingray with a supercharger will absolutely CREAM the re-sale value. The car has been out 9 months....anyone claiming to KNOW short term re-sale is full of it. And how in the world can a stock Corvette "not be enough" for you (power wise)?

Jimmy

PS. You could go get a Callaway C7....except you don't like any of the colors....

C7s will depreciate as much as 35% in 2 years or less??? Maybe a ridiculously optioned one that was tracked every weekend and in fair condition with 40k miles, but who wants one of those.

OP,
This sounds like the optimistic figure for those waiting to buy a used C7 in 2 years.

Worth well the 7k!

1. Go to the C6 for sale forums.
2. See how much money people lose beating their cars to death, exceeding the manufacturers specs with superchargers et. al.
3. See how much more money people get with well taken care of non track cars.
4. Light bulb.
5. Stop wasting our time on the forums with these " I'm afraid to pull the trigger please think for me threads."

If you can swing it, why not just get a ZR1 now. Prices are pretty good on some used ones out there now. The good thing about this is that you will have Corvette that you will not need to put any money into modifying, if new enough it can still be under warranty until the Z06 is delivered, and I would bet that it would resale for relatively close to what you bought it for, since they are low production and collectible.

So, while being quite a bit more upfront, in the end, you may not lose very much at all in the deal. Of course, purely speculating on future values of the ZR1. Just a thought.

More like it's about topped out and GM only put a 1.7 blower on the car.
Pulley Down? I doubt it! Will a lot of 600 rwhp plus C7's on the road.
Want to mod a 100k car? To keep up? I doubt many will step up.
My 2014 with Tuner installed blower kit is under 65k!

Plus I'm sure it will be de-tuned so we can crank up the power once the warranty is exhausted. I plan to keep the car for a long time unless some new radical Vette comes out that makes me want one.

The Z has so many more features than a regular Z that I can't list all here. The Z is also wider and longer I believe.

How could you possible duplicate that?

In addition I want a car that years from now I can say was a Real ZO6.

These HorsePower Wars will end one day with all the new EPA crap. I want to have a Z in my garage before the party's over.

My C7 has 4000 miles now and even with the Supercharger kit.
It is not as cool as my 2009 Zr1 with 3000 miles.

After driving the C7 daily. Then getting in the ZR1 on the weekend.
Is Special compared the ZR1 wins in Moxey, power, in my opinion
interior wise is better and shifts and drives better and is with out doubt the cooler car.

* scratch this after re-read. Even if they have 1 of 3 left it's going to cost you 3K additional for not currently owning a Vette (loyalty program)

Depreciation depends on where you live. I live in Florida and all of the C6's were being sold at absolutely ridiculous prices throughout their entire run. This also meant the used market maintained pretty high prices as well. My 2009 that I purchased for $40,000 (13k off sticker in a bad economy) was still worth exactly $40,000 when I sold it four years later down here. I actually ended up selling to a gentleman who flew down from Canada and drove it back. I had the lowest milage 09 for sale at the time as well, so it may have been a factor.

Largely depends where you live, how many miles you put on it. Etc. The supercharger isn't going to do much for the value of it, and may scare potential buyers away who are looking for a factory stock vehicle.

I too was waiting for the Z06, but took the plunge on a 1LT with my supplier discount. I was hoping that the Z06 would run about 68-75k, but something in the back of my mind tells me MSRP might be around 100. A bit out of my league til I get a few more promotions under my belt.

If you want the Z06, you should wait for the Z06.
I went ahead an bought a 2014 coupe because having the supercharged engine and extra body work does not really mean much to me anymore. If that is what was important to me, I would have bought a ZR1.

I agree completely. Adding a supercharger to a C7 is like installing a swimming pool in your back yard. It's expensive and makes living there more fun. However, when you go to sell, you'll never get what you paid for the supercharger or the pool back out of either of them, and some people won't consider buying either one because they don't want a supercharger or a pool.

I think it depends alot on the mileage on the car and also how bad your dealer really wants to make a trade. I don't think the "demand" issue for the 2015 Z51's will be nearly as great as they were for this first model year when everybody and their 2nd cousin wanted one. Reports are they are building over 32,000 cars with 50% being Z51's. My point is that the big "rush" to get one will be over. Now having said all that I could "easily" see where you would lose 10K on a trade.

The new Z06 will have 635 at the crank, about 550 at the wheels I'd imagine. I'm right about at 600hp at the wheels on my Z51 with about 8psi.

Just wait for the Z06, like all the rest of us who are waiting. It's not that far away and you get what you really want with a full warranty. If you must have a supercharged vette in the meantime, buy a low mileage non abused ZR1.You'll have minimal depreciation( maybe 5/10 grand at most).

This seems like a good way to get the horsepower you need. A used Z06 has only slightly more power than a stock C7. You probably won't like the color choices for the 2016 so buy a C6 ZR1 and paint it the color you want. That way you will have something to drive while you wait for your elusive ideal car.
