ON DISPLAY AT THE NCM BASH:
THE 2014 CALLAWAY CORVETTE!

See the 2014 Callaway Corvette on display at the NCM Bash at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, this Thursday through Saturday, April 24-26. Callaway staff will be on hand to conduct an in-depth "walk-around" on Friday, the 25th, at 12:30 PM, presenting the new Callaway Corvette's features.

New Callaway Corvette Features

Supercharger extends through hood, providing additional heat transfer capability for more power.
Innovative triple-element intercooler system outperforms single and dual intercooled systems for cooler, denser intake charge.
Single acoustic chamber muffler design is engineered for minimum restriction and great sound.
Callaway Corvettes are available at Callaway Authorized Dealers now.

Durability testing and validation, performance and drivability testing, and emissions compliance testing to establish final powertrain management calibration are scheduled to conclude in May. Then, Callaway Corvette advertised horsepower and torque rating can be released. During development testing, the Callaway supercharged LT1 has produced at least 620 horsepower and at least 600 lb-ft of torque.

Callaway's third generation Corvette supercharger system is a completely new design. Callaway engineers developed a new supercharger housing and associated intake manifold for improved airflow and increased charge air cooling capability. Intake manifold runner cross-section and length were tuned for a broad torque band while maintaining excellent peak horsepower. Eaton’s 2300cc TVS rotor pack was selected for its high thermal efficiency, OEM-certified quality, and service-proven reliability. A new triple-element intercooler configuration provides significantly lower inlet charge air temperatures than possible with single and dual element designs. Because of the added volume of the new internals, the supercharger housing itself extends through the hood. Consequently, both conductive and convective heat transfer mechanisms are utilized to remove power-robbing heat from the inlet charge.

Cross-section of new Callaway supercharger design,
illustrating improved airpath and compound intercooling

For example, in dynamometer testing, inlet air temperature increased by less than 10ºF during individual runs, compared to increases of at least 35ºF with other intercooler designs. That means more consistent performance at the track and dragstrip, as well as increased power on the street during summer months. To prevent drive belt slippage, a new 10-rib pulley system has been incorporated. In fact, certain new technical features are significant enough that utility and design aspects of this system are patent pending with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

A new Callaway Corvette exhaust system utilizes a single acoustic chamber (muffler) to attenuate harsh frequencies and accentuate low frequency tones, while allowing spent gases to exit the exhaust system with minimized restriction. Callaway's signature Double-D exhaust tips are wider than previous Double-D tips to complement the new Corvette's center exhaust bezel.

New carbon fiber manifold base covers, exterior emblems and interior badging further distinguish the 2014 Callaway Corvette.

Looks awesome to me. I like the S\C sticking through the hood. Looks much better than a bulging hood to me. I have always wanted a Callaway car. I hope you come in about $10 under the Z06, otherwise people might just buy the z instead.

First hand experience from the Bash:

This is one well engineered package. Looks great, sounds better than stock, smooth ride when easing around, monster power and speed when called for. An impressive car.
Thanks again for the ride, Chris.

Often we're asked, what makes Callaway different?

As a specialty manufacturer, we've built specialist-versions of the Chevrolet Corvette for the past 27 years. Originally hired by General Motors in 1985 to build the RPO B2K Twin Turbo Corvette, which was built from 1987-1991 and resulted in 510 examples produced in the era. Today, we continue with our supercharged examples of the newest Corvettes and are proud of the accomplishments over the past decades

As an automotive innovator for the past 40 years, Reeves Callaway and his HH Indy Engine are featured in a great new article about the engine and the era - check it out, and see one of the many reasons Callaway has led with technical innovation in the automotive world:
