Default Jeans staining seats

I detailed the interior of my car today and noticed that on the side bolster I was getting a dark blue hue to the AR interior leather.

I had some Griot's Leather care and that took care of some of it but once it dried the hue came back.

Griots lists on the bottle they have a cleaner but heavier duty stains but I cannot find it anywhere.

What can I use to remove/protect against this in the future? Noticed some very light staining on the seat too but that came off pretty easy.

I've used lexol leather cleaner on my wife's interior for this very reason . Works great removes all the dark staining perfectly.

Agree, Lexol and Lexan have worked for me for years. Easy to use, also.

Search around for dye transfer on leather and you will find plenty of reading and chemicals, both for removing and preventing it.

I have had mixed results with removing jean/leather belt dye transfer on car seats over the years, most of the time I made it worse - even with the high dollar 'systems' to remove it. High end car detailers have some tricks, they got some nasty belt dye transfer off one of my old 911s, but for what it cost I could have bought new seat covers.

All depends on how bad it is..

Thanks I'll try the Lexol, on its way from Amazon.

The car only has 1100 miles on it so hopefully its not bad and I can remove it and then work on preventing it.

Blue jeans, or any other denim material should be in the Corvette Commandants of what NOT to wear while sitting on any leather automotive seat. You really should sit on a cotton towel if you're wearing jeans - they're just too abrasive and easily transfer their color onto other materials.

Advance auto has lexol if you have one nearby and are in a hurry. Just be careful because if it is dye transfer all you will do with the lexol is set the stain in permanently.

But yea, blue jeans that arent well washed, and some leather belts, will wreck any leather seat that isnt black. I already have some transfer from a newer black sweatshirt I was wearing on Kalahari. I usually buy black interiors and I always get reminded why I do after the first time I wear the wrong thing.

You are going to think I am nuts but there is a very, very simple way to prevent not only the transfer of dye, but prevent the seat bolsters from showing any type of wear no matter how many miles you put on your C7 (or any other leather seat)!

You are going to think this is strange, but I have this on all of my cars including my Lamborghini Gallardo.

Go to Target or Walmart and pick up a $10.00 women's workout short that is stretchy. Simply slide it over the seat back. The head test fits perfectly through the neck and the shirt will not move around or crumple up when you get it/out of your car. They will remain perfectly in place.

I have a black set of these on my Yellow/Black Lambo interior and they fit so well, not one single person has ever noticed the "cover" is actually a women's workout shirt! And trust me...thousands of people have looked inside my Lambo. In fact, many other Lambo owners asked where I got my "covers" and were shocked what they were. Several went out and bought the shirts!

Great idea. What size do you buy?

I put a lot of bleach in the washing machine after the tub is full of water. Then I run the machine for a minute. Then I put in the new jeans. I have been doing this for many years, not just for car interiors but because new jeans will mark a lot of stuff.

That's ironic, because sometimes I stain my jeans while driving this beast!

How about a picture of your Lambo seat with this shirt on it.

That's why it's my DD. C-6 had 100k miles on it - Which owner enjoyed his/her car more - the one with 25k miles at trade in or or one with 100k?
