Default C&D Lightning Lap C7 Z51 and Z28 at VIR

I was at VIR this weekend for a NASA event. It just so happens that C&D was there prepping the cars for their Lightning Lap comparison test that is starting today. A C7 Z51 and a Z28 are included in that test so those results should answer some of the debates that have been going on on this board. A few of the other cars include the 918, F12, GT-R Nismo, Viper TA, 911TT, R8 V10, 911 S, CTS V, few Jags and Benz, and other. It should be an interesting comparison but you have to wait until Aug to find out the results. One note though, is that they just repaved and widened VIR so the laps times from this comparo are going to be hard to compare with the past ones. The faster cars at the NASA event were running about 2 sec quicker a lap on the Full Course than their previous bests.

On another note there were 2 C7s running at the NASA event, both black. I don't know if it was anyone one here. One was running in the advanced group with me.

Interesting that they are running both a 911 TT and a Carrera S.
And they included a previous generation CTS-V? That seems odd.

August issue isn't that far off. Don't they usually run a few months in advance...

I think I just received the June issue

It was the new CTS-V ('15?). I will post a pic when I get it off my phone.

You are right, for some reason I was thinking that it was going to be in the Sept issue (arriving in Aug) but it looks like they have been putting it in Dec Jan issues lately so I am not really sure when? I forgot to ask them.

Really???
I didn't know GM officially ever released any info about it. There have been articles, but no pics, or GM press releases AFAIK.

Oh that's the "Vsport", not the 560 hp "V".
Cool anyway.

Very interested in the results. Moreso the C7 vs. 911S but all will be interesting.

Ok that makes sense because I was really underwhelmed if it was the "V". Here are the Porsches.

This is the article that I look forward to most. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the 918 is quickest by a pretty big margin - if they are able to get close to the car's abilities. Too bad the Z06 can't make it.

Could have been the MTI C7?

No it was stock looking with NC plates. I talked with the guy briefly but forgot to ask him if he was on here.
