I think you'll find that here among early C7 enthusiasts on the forum the majority choose Z51. But for the overall C7 market the majority of production will be non Z51.
In 2015 expect some of the guys who would buy Z51 to go for the Z06, so Z51 production will likely drop.

interesting take.

Actually, Z51 production has been constrained at 50% for almost the entire production run to date and will probably continue at 50% at least through the end of the model year. So, the total market will be very close to 50-50.

ZL-1 make sense. The enthusiasts will report here, so your poll will skew high for now. After the Z06 launches, Z51 will go down as the enthusiasts opt there.
Remember that this forum is not 100% representative of the total market.

Paying for the Z51 option when your C7 is a poser garage queen that will never see a track or north of 100 on the speedo is like getting that same burger and then throwing it in the trash without taking a bite.

I didn't pay the price difference for a Z51 because not one thing on the package would ever be of use to me with this being a street car. If you want to take it out on the track then yes. Bigger wheels, bigger brakes, dry sump, etc etc. will ever be missed since the base Corvette handles and stops etc better than you will ever need driving from one destination to another. Just bragging rights and macho thing to pay for the rights to say "Mine is a Z51" when I wouldn't get one penny of extra enjoyment of having it. I am man enough without it and racing go karts, dirt modifieds, sprint cars and late model dirt cars is where I get my kicks from all my life.

I agree. I went non Z51 but I can understand people wanting the Z51. It's a nice package and if you are putting it on a track or any competition then it is a great choice. The only thing I really struggled with was not getting the larger 19/20" better looking wheels IMHO. I'll probably go aftermarket down the road anyway and upgrade the brakes when they wear out. I'm sure a base is quite capable in its own right. Cheers.

I opted for non-Z51 to keep the cost down. How many people that are blind folded can really tell the difference in a $.25 burger and a $1.00 burger?
