My horsepower numbers

My horsepower numbers
I was offered a free dyno run at Weapons Grade Performance in Wallingford, CT. I met the owner (Doug) at a car show approximately 2 weeks ago. He asked if he could run the car on the dyno to see what the real numbers are. He has a Mustang Dyno and it seemed pretty nice. Well I went yesterday and they ran the car. When all was said and done, he told me that the numbers were almost 377hp on his dyno. That equates to almost 422hp on a Dyno Jet. And when he adds aproximately 15% for the auto trans, that adds up to almost 485hp gross. I think that was pretty good start considering these cars are only rated at 460hp from Chevy. I will be getting sheets and it should be up on his website sometime between Monday and Friday.
Just wanted to share. I think that puts me in the ballpark with others.

Dyno to Dyno, no matter the brand it's very hard to compare results as they all differ so much. From hardware setup to operator variance it is a large number of variables. You could literally run on two exact same dynojet or mustang models that are across the street from each other and have wildly different results.
Dyno runs have gotten away from the intended use with forums and have become a bit too important to many people. What they are really for is to be used as a measurement tool. Find one dyno/operator and stick with them before/after mods to see what your changes have done for you.
A real measurement is how fast the car is going at the end of a quarter mile, but many people can't get to a decent track.
If you really want to compare your numbers to others here the best you can do is to try to duplicate the environment. Since most people use Dynojet, find a good Dynojet that is locally known to not be overly generous, or on the other end to be a "heart breaker" that runs low. Then get SAE corrected numbers (corrected for weather) and it should be "close enough".
That said, I think your numbers are probably inline. I haven't heard of anyone running really low yet. Also, it sounds like the owner in this case hasn't had a C7 on his dyno before yours, but in some cases the dyno operators have seen a couple C7's already and they can tell/show you what those cars ran on his dyno so you can compare that.

Interesting article here. This stock C7 put down 412hp to the wheels on their dyno!

Cool. Please post your results in the thread here as I've done the 93 tune as well and would love to hear your findings, especially since there's not a dyno anywhere near me to test my own car.
