Default I want to use a battery maintainer?

I have a convertible and the owners manual refers to one, recommending that it be plugged into the trunk socket. The question I have is, will the trunk light go out after a period of time with the lid open? I don't want to close the deck lid with the cord hanging out. I'm assuming the trunk light switch is part of the latch mechanism.

Light should turn off in 10 minutes...try it.

I use the C-Tek--plug it in the trunk and close the trunk lid. Works great as the cord forms around the seal. cutnout aka Charlie
