Default 2014 or 2015?

I've got a decision to make. I ordered a 2014 at the beginning of May. I had decided that my order was probably not going to get picked up for 2014. In the meantime I heard about ZF1 appearance package and thought I may want it. I discussed that with the dealer. Found out today that I'm at 3000 with a TPW of July 7.

They said that if I want a 2015 they will put the 2014 in stock or cancel it. Will a late 2014 be worth a lot less in a few years? I only want the ZF1 for the wheels. I'm guessing the ZF1 package will be similar in cost to a set of aftermarket wheels, so skipping it may not be a big deal. Any input from those who have been in a similar position would be appreciated

If they will let you change the order to a 2015 without any problems, then do it. You'll get many more order choices for 2015 including the new 8 speed.

If you're getting the 7-speed, you won't see any differences. Long-term value may be higher (long-term, folks) years down the road on the 2014. Main option difference will be the new wheels and PDR for the '15.

If you're just looking for the ZF1 (Z51 clone), I would suggest saving for the 2015 since you already got stuck for the 2014 price increase and getting a 2015 Z51.

If you're doing an automatic, I would certainly wait for the 2015, unless you fear 'new transmission syndrome'. The 6-speed auto may also add to the long-term value, but kill the short-term resale.

Just my personal opinion... Hope it helps a bit.

Rumor has it the ZF1 option may come off constraint for the June 12th consensus. Meaning you'd have a very RARE Vette. I'm hoping I can get the ZF1 on my 2014.

I'll know within the week.

There will be a price increase in 2015. Many options could become standard running up the prices.

Tough calll to make. I know you want the ZF1 because of the wheels, however no one knows how much that package will be yet or the amount of price increase for the 2015 model itself. Between the package cost and the normal price increase you may be looking at an additional 5,000.

If it were me I'd get the 2014 and either buy some aftermarket wheels or maybe if you get lucky they'll take the ZF1 package off constraint before your's is built in July. (providing the cost is reasonable)

At 3000, I'd proceed with the 2014.

You will have the car to enjoy this summer, the 2015 might arrive just as winter brakes. Price? Unknown, it will not get cheaper. Depreciation, the price increase a few months ago will slow it somewhat. A late vin 2014, the early bugs have pretty much been addressed. If the 2014 proves out to be reliable, I think it will, the early model C6 value/desirability loss will not repeat. My C7 vin #22487 has been perfect, no defects. Hope this helps.

Agreed. While everyone else is dreaming about the couple new options available on the 2015 you'll likely save yourself a few grand plus get to enjoy the car this summer yet!

I was initially thinking about waiting for a 2015, but I could not be happier with my 2014 (VIN 19XXX) and am thrilled I get to enjoy it all summer (already have been too, for 2 months). With one roadtrip down and three more planned I am quite excited
