Default Inspiration for Corvette taillights

Somebody told me this was the source of inspiration for the Corvette taillights. I don't know if it's true or not but I certainly can see why they would say that.

If I remember correctly, GM described the inspiration for the C6 tail lights as "afterburners". I don't believe I've ever heard a similar description applied to the C7 tail lights...

Yea! Another forum thought, like the chrome grill insert is a tribute to early Corvettes. Probably more like the Design Chief instructed; design a tail light that will fit the new proposed body rendering. It is fun dreaming.

Roger that, I expected a ration of crap from the haters. But I certainly can see the resemblance and as far as I'm concerned that's the answer to the question.
