Default Paddle Shifters Only?

Did a search but couldn't seem to find an answer. On the automatic do you have the option to manually shift with the shifter in the center console or only the paddle shifters? Second question, are the shifters attached to the steering wheel or column? Meaning do they move with the steering wheel and if so do any of you find it hard to shift around a corner? Sorry if these questions seem silly. I ordered an automatic and have never had paddle shifters before.

The shifters are connected to the steering wheel so they turn as the wheel turns. Looking forward to seeing your photos when your C7 arrives.....what did you order?

You can manually go through the gears with the paddle shifters on the console. The center console has park, forward, neutral, and manual mode.

You can override Automatic at any time with the paddle shifters

Also, place in manual mode and you have to use the paddle shifters for all of the gears

Great thanks. So when in D and you press on a paddle shifter it'll shift? Then what happens after that. I mean will it start shifting automatically again or how is that done.

I ordered a AW Z51 2LT with black wheels. So exited!!! Got the ordered placed about 3 weeks ago. Been stalking the forums but haven't really been posting. I have a target production week TPW of 6/30. Just found out from my dealer last week about that. I guess the next good news will be that the car is on it's way.

When in D on the console, if you pull a shifting paddle (generally to force a quick downshift), the light will move from D to M on the console. It will stay in manual mode until you don't use the paddles for a prescribed period. As was said above, if you put the console shifter in M, you must use the paddles to shift.

The location of the paddles allows you to hook your thumbs through the two spokes of the wheel comfortably. You don't have to turn the wheel much to maneuver, so I think you will be impressed with the layout.

I wish you could shift with the shifter. That's why it's called a gear shift.

This is my first vette or first sports car period so I'm pretty excited. My wifey gave me the a-ok after nagging her for months. We have 1 daughter and another baby on the way so I'm trying to enjoy the time I have before life gets too crazy and then I'll have to wait till retirement to do this again.

It's my first vette also and I have a young family as well. I love spending time with my family but it's also fun to get away for an hour or so on the weekend, alone, for a nice ride. Best of luck with the incoming vette and more importantly with the new addition to your family

Hopefully it has reverse, too, otherwise parking is going to get a lot more difficult in this car...

Yes, old habits die hard. But then, why would you prefer to drive a performance car with only one hand on the wheel?

ZHU, nice pictures, but how does it relate to the op's question about paddle shifters?

Monts, this was to show Icecream Kon a picture of an AW Z51 A8, just like he ordered!

Just using the Paddle shifters, can one place the car in neutral?
ie press both paddles at the same time, etc.?

If I want to imitate the guys with the M7, ie they can press the clutch in and go:

Vroom, Vroom

How can I do that with the A8? Vroom, Vroom.

No. Can't put it in P, N, or R with the paddle shifters.

Ok, that's why guys get the M7!

Just use the console stick and move it to N...Vroom, Vroom, back to M.

Done!
