Quite a correlation between the OPs post and his avatar. Interesting list. The GT500 is a ton of power for the price. Will interesting to see a comparison between it and the hellcat.

From the Edmund's test:
"Unfortunately.... the extra cooling of the Track Pack option didn't prevent it from going into a reduced power mode one lap after its timed run. Parked with the hood up is not a good look."
So the Shelby is the best power-to-weight value... for about 1minunte 27seconds

Whoever wrote the article made a math error.
They list the proper weight of the C7 Non Z51 at 3298 lbs. and proper HP with NPP as 460
The correct ratio is 3298/460 = 7.169
They list the ratio incorrectly at 7.248

The 13/14 GT500 is a beast of a car! Not sure the new Dodge will be able to do too much damage. Yeah it has 45 more ponies, but that car is a pig and needs all the ponies they can throw at it. Like it or not, the Shelby is as serious as they come. Now....once the new Z06 arrives, it may be game over for the rest. Time will tell.

I love the GT500, as you can find in my other posts (about the Hellcat, etc. which pop up daily).
However, for under $100k, I have a fully-loaded Z51 that has a ratio of under 3.5:1 - the Super Snake would break the 100K barrier ($40,000+base for the 850bhp version) and the warranty status becomes about the same as my own. It also remains above 4.5:1 even for the added money. You can get it down to 4:1 throwing several additional options at it, but at a spendy price (additional $18,000-25,000).
So, it's good to remember platform capability, as well. Not many can say they have under 3.5:1 on a production car that still handles and drives as it should without being trailered to a race.
Not trying to be an *** - like I said, I really love the GT500. Have a few around here, and behind the '67 Cobra Jet, it's the truest expression of Ford's muscle car prowess.
Now the GT on the other hand, just incredible. I bow to that design accomplishment, both the GT40 and the GT. Wish I had taken the opportunity to buy one when they dipped (for a VERY short time) under $100k before shooting far back over $150k.
But I digress...
