Dropped one of my kids off at a friends house, was going to take the wife to dinner. Unfortunately, heard a pop, and right rear tire was bouncing like it was flat. I had run over a very thick 3-4" screw and when the tire rotated on the head of the screw the entire wheel would hop. I got the screw out with a pair of pliers (took a good 10min) and was able to drive home without a problem. Off to the dealer tomorrow.

Augh! Are they going to be able to patch that, or are you looking at a new tire?

That's worse than the two roofing nails in my left rear. But yea, it stayed up and drove fine with low pressure but when it got down to 24lbs I didn't go over 50mph. My road hazard warranty paid the whole bill $560+ bucks (rear Z51 tire). Dealer even had two in stock but thankfully I only needed one.

I'm a fan of run flats. They've saved my bacon more than a few times.

As long as it's it the tread, yes they should be able to fix it. Virtually the same area is patchable as non run-flats. Unless you track the car, it should not be an issue, if properly repaired.

I'm on 0 air pressure in the right rear, I didnt' go over 40mph on the way and it drove great no discernible difference at all. I'm not sure if this is patchable or not. I have the tire/wheel insurance from the dealer I'm not sure if it covers something like this or not ??

Had my left rear patched today. Had a screw dead center. Tire shop really knew how to do it. I have no problem with a patch in the middle if it's done right. $24 bucks. Spin balance and all. I've been told 120mph is as fast as you should go and only one patch per tire as per Michelin.

That looks like a pretty thick bolt that went into the tire. Hope they can patch it.

Are dealers best to patch or do you think someplace like Discount Tire? At first instinct I would think the dealer, but doubt they do too many tire patches, whereas a place like D/T does thousands. Not sure, just a thought?

If repaired/patched you'll loose the speed rating. So don't plan on any high speed activities after the repair. How many miles are on your tires?

Maybe it would be better to replace both rear tires now and be done with it.

If your road hazard warranty is through Fidelity, yes they'll authorize a replacement (yours is worse than mine was). Tire Rack say's one patch authorized on Michelin run-flats but GM doesn't recommend it as previously mentioned, you'll loose the speed rating. Insist on a replacement. Pull out your road hazard papers and read them, there are two price points on the warranty (like better and best) but I don't remember the details w/o reading them. I have the higher one.

I always take my care to the dealership since they do good work. I picked up a nail in my tire about three weeks ago. I took it to Discount Tire. I was really impressed by Discount Tire. They were very friendly, professional, and did not charge me for the repair. Most importantly, they did a great job repairing the tire and not damaging the black wheel.

I will give Discount Tire my business in the future.

I went to Discount Tire and they fixed my flat for free. I had a nail and a screw in my left front.

I hit a pot hole with my C6 with run flats and had a 1 inch gash where the sidewall meets the top of tire. It was 12 midnight and pouring rain and I was 80 miles from home, I called Onstar and the tech told me I could drive 100 miles with the flat up to 50 mph. I drove the 80 miles with no issues.
I won't drive a vette without run flats.

Sorry to hear it happened, but that is a great example why I have rft's on my vette.

That's my story, except it was a Sunday, and no OnStar, or phone coverage.

If it is a hole where it won't be fixable, the milage guidelines don't apply. They are only if you expect to fix that tire. If you don't expect to repair or don't want to repair it, you can drive for many hundreds of miles, if necessary, to get where you need to go. You just can't go very fast.

I would check every so often, to see that the tire is still sound, structurally.

If Discount Tire feels the hole can't be patched safely, they will not do it. They'll want you to replace the tire with a new one.

Went down to take my car out yesterday eve and got the warning! 6 psi :-((( I looked at it and there's a nail in the outer groove. I have tire warranty. Also on star is active. I wonder what I should do. Work all say today. I'm thinking just drive slowly to the dealership??
