Default Still marking up the 2014's???

So check this out...I go to the dealership today in Lone Tree, CO to order a new spoiler for my car. Of course while I am there I go to look at the four '14 C7's they have on the lot. Two were non-Z51's and two where Z51's. Also, one Z51 was a convertible, rest were coupes.

Holy crap. First I saw a 2LT Z51 coupe for $85k. I saw it had on the options/mark up $10,000 for market adjustment. STILL???

So I talked to a salesman and he said they are still asking for $10k market adjustment AND getting the $10k on the coupes. He said for the convertible they'll do 'just' MSRP. Can't believe it's almost August and they are still getting $10k above MSRP. Who is paying this??? I guess many! He also said that the coupes are more $$$ on market adjustment as they are harder to find and more wanted.

Wow....guess I'm still in shock by this given the time of year!!

Default Asking does not mean getting

I have been to many dealers and had them ask over MSRP

But that does not stop you from offering under MSRP. They will always accept an offer with a deposit. Last year I wanted to order my wife a 2014 BMW 435I conv and I was told $5,000 over MSRP.

I offered a firm $3,000 under MSRP with a $2,500 cash deposit.

The salesmen told me it was a waste of time. It was a no trade cash deal and after 3 hours of going back and forth, including taking my check back and walking to my car, They accepted my order and I had the first 435I in S Florida.

I was a dealer for 25 years and never get tired of the negotiating. My wife is now happy and that equals to a happy me.

Maybe the reason the cars are still on the lot is because the dealer is gouging. I told one of my local dealers to pack it for less than half that much over MSRP.

Most of the ones here are now $5K under. They were $15K over.

My local dealer quit asking over MSRP when they had a 1978 pace car that they thought they would get double MSRP for ($25,000), and it sat on the showroom until the tires went flat.

Yeah Looked at Carfax...Was purchased from another dealer...I don't get it either, But this place has good service and seems to specialize in Vettes but very high prices, not many dealers. Three in 100 mile radius,
