Default European maps for navigation

Dear CF Users,

As always, we are turning to our beloved CF for information.

We have US specs C7. How can we add European Maps to navigation system?

Thanks!

Not in USA, Zymurgy.

I am assuming these will require me to bring the car to the dealer to update? This is not an option!

I just want to know if we can purchase these from somewhere and update/install it ourselves.

I know you are not in the USA. I remember when you were first looking at a C7. The contact info I gave is the Map Update store. I'd ask them how you can obtain a Europe map for your C7. Maybe they can refer you to someplace. You may be able to get the map via a USB memory stick. It's a starting point.

Also, while Chevrolet is pulling out of Europe, they are not pulling out the Corvette. Try here: http://www.chevroleteurope.com/ and find contact information for your country.

This number was clueless. They game me another company who is doing the maps for GM: Here

866.351.7608 Here

The lady there was clueless as well about European maps and asked me to email: eubc-english@here.com

Let's see what they will say.

This whole process shouldn't have been this complicated in year 2014.

And automated message says:

Thank you very much for your message.
Due to very heavy and unexpected email volumes, it may take up to 10 working days to respond.

Dear customer,

Thank you for contact and inquiring about HERE Maps.

HERE Maps Europe does not handle the distribution and/or support for North American navigation system. This is mainly due to the software and region differences between European and North American systems.

HERE Maps has no further solution for such cases as European map updates only work in European made navigation systems.

For more information on how to obtain map updates for your navigation system, we recommend you to contact your local dealer directly.

Should you require additional information, please send us your feedback by replying to this email .

With kind regards,

We couldn't get EU maps installed on US specs car. Even a vendor who quoted $3,000 could not do it -- citing it is a new car in EU. Dealer/Distributer in Germany had no idea how to do it either.

And no, it is not cool to have a Garmin or Samsung with its cables dangling around while we could get this on HUD/Center Console.

As stupid as it gets.

Any News on this? Also have an US Version C7 Convertible and would need European maps...

I also asked EU-Dealer and Distributor but nobody could give me a satisfying answer on this.

I think you may be out of luck. Your radio will also have potential issues as the bands are different in Europe. Maybe a dealer in Germany can help but my guess it will be expensive as it may require installing a Euro Nav unit.

Nav is stored in the HMI module. I'd think worst case you could find someone who would sell you one and replace the hardware instead of just the maps. Fairly easy to swap with the original module. Cost should be around $1k US, maybe a little bit more in Europe.

hi I trust your homologation and registration process went well.
came across your thread as I have jus imported my c7 from canada to portugal as well and am looking to get the homologation done and also wanted to get my maps updated.
Could you tell me what you had to get changed/ added to the car for the homologation?
also were you able to update your navigation maps?

Thanks in advance.
Cheers
