Ferrari F430 tried to blow by me on the on-ramp today..

If it was a newer Shelby (not a Cobra) the only reason you "embarrassed" him is because he let you. The wife's '12 Shelby has ~100 HP and ~100 lb-ft of torque more than a C7, and since it's supercharged it's instant. If you lived near here I could embarrass you in your C7, especially in any kind of rolling start race.

Well, this thread has gone south pretty badly. Give it a rest guys.
It's not easy to launch well from a standing start. What the OP was talking about was a rolling start at an on ramp. That's where the supercharger on the GT500 will scare you if you get the boost gauge in the dash above 10 psi.

everyone stop with the political correctness. who cares what someone says about your screen name on the internet lol WHO CARES....
And the best is they couldn't even get the political correctness correct hahahaha.
PS... the '09 F430 wasn't any quicker than a base C6.. stick or auto... let alone a C6z.. so get lost with that statement. they trapped 117 on a good day. just like a c6

I wonder how much faster, if at all, a RS7 is than a C7.
Without getting into too much detail but lets say shifting and driver has a lot to do with it.
100 more HP, but also 1000lbs more.
Those two level themselves out. I looked at buying a Rs7 instead of a C7 as a year round car, no doubt its a great car but I do not think there is much of a difference between the two in straight line acceleration.

Just wanted one with a little more room (and power) for daily driver.
And yes, most REAL world tests of RS7, 3.2 0-60, it will beat C7 and has 4 doors.
Nice part is I'm a lover of both, so no need to bash
So funny in this forum, even if you own another car, and merely mention it, you get bashed.
Get over it guys, C7 is not the end all to be all--quite frankly nothing is (RS7, Ferrari 458, etc). There's always something, someone thinks is faster, more expensive, better, nicer, yada, yada.
That's why it's great to have so many options and mix and match what makes you happy.
Embrace cars and the love of them, don't bash people for having something else as well.

The C7 will DUST all but a full race GT500 on a road course and most of them in a street race too.
I could easily dust a GT500 in my Shelby GT/SC and the C7 easily would out maneuver that car.
The GT500's are cool but are more of a hooligan street car that does killer burnouts than a serious contender.
Great cars, but the C7 is much more car IMO, hands down.

Um, nice, but I think I know. Have a law degree--you?
When someone brings up Hilter, well, I can only imagine what they are thinking...any other questions?
Antisemitism (also spelled anti-semitism or anti-Semitism) is prejudice, hatred of, or discrimination against Jews as a national, ethnic, religious or racial group.[1] A person who holds such positions is called an "antisemite". As Jews are an ethnoreligious group, antisemitism is generally considered a form of racism.

I know what it means and don't need a law degree to know that there is a difference between what was said and what is an anti-semetic remark.
Agree with this. But I don't have a law degree and my degrees deal with things more logical than law so I may be off-base some how.
Completely agree. I tend to find that too many threads tend to get personal too quickly. I will now bow out, and ignore this thread going forward.

A weekend with the Shelby Club guys I drove with and she would be driving like one...LOL! Spring Mountian was a blast, can't wait to try it in a C7.
Great cars the 500's, really love the Shelby's especially the GT/SC's and the Supersnakes.
One day I also may hunt for a modern KR they are getting reasonable in price and so cool.

Warning to all. What the heck is going on in this thread????
Guys,
Reading this thread has me shaking my head in shame. There is absolutely no reason to be bringing up Hitler, Germans, Jews and Anti-Semetism in a Corvette Forum. This is very embarrassing to read.
The slurs about car and their origin has me cringing.
This is a Warning to all....either you keep these threads on topic or LONG Summer vacations will be handed out here.

I simply said that they are almost equally as quick, based on first hand experience.
My choice was to buy a RS7 or a C7 and another winter car. I picked up my C7 in April and picked up my S4 yesterday and really gave a lot of thought because the two cars together dollar wise equal a RS7.
But they are still two different cars for two different reasons.
I might have gotten the RS7 if it had a real transmission like a DSG in my S4.....

GREAT choice on S4, great fun car, and gives you four doors.
You have the best of both worlds, amazing C7 and a great AWD S4--enjoy.
You've selected well!

well, hypothetically: I was getting onto a long, sweeping on-ramp and there were no other cars around -- then I see a dark blue F430 come up behind me, i was going about 45-50 at the time. Heard his engine drop gears, and he took off -- i shifted down to 2nd and did the same, started gaining on him; the sweeping on ramp had a really nice, long descent -- flipped to 3rd gear, then 4th -- i wasn't prepared to go the speeds he was, so I laid off of it.. he kept going, but I think we was surprised and this was at 11:30am and there were literally ZERO cars around. hypothetically, of course.
