Ferrari F430 tried to blow by me on the on-ramp today..

I managed to embarrass a Cobra Mustang driver in pretty much the same fashion...

My father has a 360 with virtually no miles. People think its a rocket ship. Realistically it "only" has about 420hp at the crank with the full exhaust and headers he has. Fun car to drive, totally different experience. But its not exactly "fast" by todays standards. In any measurable performance category, my c7 destorys it, but it gets a ton of looks and people just gravitate towards it. The c7 gets that too, but in 2 years it wont, whereas that car will ALWAYS grab people.
Edit: I forgot about the zr1. So maybe not ANY 09 vette.

But then again, there's more to a Ferrari than just speed (and it's a 5 year old car)
However, I can appreciate the thought.

well, hypothetically:
I was getting onto a long, sweeping on-ramp and there were no other cars around -- then I see a dark blue F430 come up behind me, i was going about 45-50 at the time.
Heard his engine drop gears, and he took off -- i shifted down to 2nd and did the same, started gaining on him; the sweeping on ramp had a really nice, long descent -- flipped to 3rd gear, then 4th -- i wasn't prepared to go the speeds he was, so I laid off of it.. he kept going, but I think we was surprised and this was at 11:30am and there were literally ZERO cars around.
hypothetically, of course.

If it was a newer Shelby (not a Cobra) the only reason you "embarrassed" him is because he let you. The wife's '12 Shelby has ~100 HP and ~100 lb-ft of torque more than a C7, and since it's supercharged it's instant. If you lived near here I could embarrass you in your C7, especially in any kind of rolling start race.

I agree completely. In a rolling start race on an on ramp or highway the Shelby wins easy. Add any curves and it's all over; the C7 spanks it.
We have one of each and they're both a blast to drive, but I greatly prefer driving my C7 over the Shelby.
