[Review] 2014 Audi R8 V10: A dream that comes after the Corvette
Have you ever considered what you would drive if you won the lottery, or if uncle Warren Buffett left you some of his dough? I know you have. A Corvette is a dream car, but it's not the only dream car out there.
My independent research on this forum has proven that dreams do not end at the Corvette -- many owners of America's sports car have other fine automobiles in their stables. The Corvette is a lot of car, but supercars like the Lamborghini Aventador are undeniably "more car". Corvette lovers are car lovers, therefore, exotic machines like the Bugatti Veyron and the Pagani Zonda offer more to love.
So after you've acquired your Corvette, what car sits at the next goal post? What car do you pick when you go from sports car to supercar (without going nuts and heading straight for the McLaren P1)? I think the next logical choice for Corvette owners is the Audi R8 V10.

Next step up from Corvette is Ferrari in my opinion. Audi seems too calm and most Porsches offer less performance than the top Corvette. For the price of a V10 R8, it would definitely be Ferrari for me. I'd even say Lambo before Audi, why not get the same V10 in a more exotic package.

First on my list is the Ferrari Enzo. I know it's a decade old but I still thinks it's beautiful. If I can't have an Enzo, then I'd "settle" for a 458.

I would love to see how an R8 drives with the AWD it has.
That being said, I've always wanted a Lamborghini, though after a Porche. My brother and I still have a bet as to who is going to get a Porshe first. We're both about 50 years old, so we aren't hurring to do it...I could have done that instead of the Corvette...just love the new Stingray a LOT.

after the Stingray is going to be the Z06, after the Z06 it's going to be the 918.

Audi wouldn't even be on my top 10 list.

Well, I HAVE a 458, parked right next to my C7 Z51 M7 vert. While the 458 is faster, quicker on the track and, to some eyes, prettier, there's less difference than you might expect. I got the C7 a year after the 458, and appreciate both cars.
You can't beat the 458's sound (to my ears), the dynamics and the overall feel. But, then again, the C7 has a manual transmission, which is a bunch of fun, it sounds great, too, and, at least in my case, is a convertible. The 458 Spider (convertible) isn't as "tight" at the coupe (which is what I have), and you lose the fantastic sight of the engine in the rearview mirror, and through the rear hatch.
In other words, while a 458 is a step up, it costs about 5 times as much, and it's maybe 30% better than the C7.
The grass is always greener.....

I like this OP. I'm definitely an Audi R8 guy and always have been. That's likely my next step up (but not for another 5+ years and, of course, a lot can come along in that time). I did a driving/racing school in the R8 and absolutely loved it.
I'd rather have an R8 than a Gallardo/Huracan. Of course, I wouldn't pay $200k for it either, I'd likely go with 1 year used.
