Default C7 Thermostat change

Want to change my thermostat to a 160 degree temp. ANyone done this and how was the procedure? Thermostat cost about $30

I'm curious what you're trying to achieve with a lower temp t-stat.

Do not do it with this engine control system...this is a whole new deal. If you wNt to "hop it up" go to one off the forum tune up companies. They have the equipment and know how for a modern system...

Nothing to be gained by going to a lower thermostat. That has been true for many years now. All the thermostat does is set the minimum temperature the engine will run at. it can't control the maximum temperature so that can still run the same as you see now. Once the thermostat is wide open it has no say in how hot the engine can get.
