Default Just picked up my C7, couple of questions

1. Dealer said that if you remove the targa top it will never close the same again??? And I'll get a lot more wind noise as a result. Sound like what anyone has experienced?
2. When I park the car it has a fajita sizzling sound coming from underneath the car. Any idea what this could be or something that won't continue when I get some more miles on the car?
3. The C7 is awesome! More of a statement...

1. Dealer is full of crap. I've had my top on and off several times with no issue. Why would GM give you a targa top that screws up the first time you remove it?

2. I assume you were using the a/c while driving? The sizzling is condensation from the a/c dripping onto the exhaust. This was present on the C6 also. It will not go away and is no reason to be alarmed.

The AC condensate dripping on the hot exhaust - given how much detail / design work they put in on this car, why couldn't they drain it so you don't hear the sizzling - how difficult could that have been???

if you had a C6 you will find out the targa top is harder to put on then the c6 one was only because the tolerance are closer and the gasket need to be compressed more

Congrats on your new ride.

1. Horse sh*t. I've taken the top off many sunny days and clear cool nights. No problem. Just careful when you put it back on not to squish the rubbery cushions (whatever they're called) on either side. If you align the top you're you'll be fine.

2. Sizzling sound is normal. I've noticed without the AC on btw. I thought I read somewhere it might have something to do with the dry sump?? Not sure though.

3. Word!!! Btw some pictures never hurt no one :-)

Those little rubber tabs dunga references will hang on the corner of the roof, get pushed backwards and out, then tear.

wind noise? I've made a couple calls with the roof off going 45 mph...no issue with them hearing me or vice verse. Pending speed, you might have to put the windows up, but thats minor.

You will never know because you missed the design meetings. You may consider not owning a C7 since it has such a defect..

My top fits very well but had to be careful when installing. Be sure it fits before clamping. As noted, the sound is the same as my C6 and caused by moisture condensing from air conditioning. For the Vette and our SUV have 2x3 mat under the area to collect water the exhaust does not evaporate!

Thanks for all the replies and that is an accurate depiction of the salesman!! I didn't even want to ask questions/call out his BS, just get my car and leave!! Just one of those people you tolerate til you get what you need. He was also saying never drive it in track or sport mode too.... I would say in one ear out the other but that didn't even make it in my ear!!!hahaha

Salesman must be going through an internal struggle. He drives a Prius and sells 460hp sports cars...
