Convertible top malfunctioned today
tried putting the top down today by remote it only went half way and stopped so i tried repushing the remote and nothing so after a minute i decided to go in the car and do it from there .i pushed the button to make it go back up and the next thing i know the back window exploded into the vehicle .wow .

That's not good. There must have been a load imposed on the glass. How many cycles have you put on your top. I cycle mine often, with and without the remote, four or more times a trip.

when i bought the car the salesmen told us that the roof retract button on these cars stalls or dont work everytime you use it .that it was a gm problem .
dealer called new top will be here in five days-cant replace just the glass.

Just tried to put top down and it says system is over headed to wait .any clue why

Hey, not to steal the thread, but are and of you convertible owners hearing any "clicking/ snapping" sounds coming from the mechanism when you raise or lower the top? Mine gets pretty loud...

i was and holy **** i said
just got a 2 calls one from gm and 1 from dealer that i bought the car from they want to look in to this asap .this is my 9th new gm car im use to it . im dealing with my local dealer who is a friend of mine .he let me take the car home instead of leaving it at the dealer so everybody can drive it .thats not staying there for a week or 7 .i found the peice that broke the window .its attached with 2 screws on the bottom of the deck lid its the male piece that fits into the female on back of console behind seat .now roof wont go up or down says its overheated

Was there any message on the DIC prior to the window exploding? (0nly manual operation of top possible).
Seems this failure got everyone's attention! Hope the repair is accomplished soon without further problems.

ah what the hell bad week i guess hopefully they do right by me . i know there is gm watching this blog please look into maybe why this happened .

I got my book out and revisited the manual operation of the top. My car's power top has performed flawlessly, best feature ever. I have driven more top down miles this summer than ever before. Sorry for your problem, lets hope what ever caused this failure will be resolved soon.
