You can drive a moped in the winter if you want, but probably not a wise idea.

The week after I bought my C7, I hit craigslist and found a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee to drive in the crap.

Hey, it's your car...drive it how you like. But for me, my C7 is my baby and I plan to keep it pristine.
Wow, I'm surprised it took until the 15th post before someone would pipe in with unsolicited advice about how it's not advisable to drive it in the winter.
You should do your thing and we will do ours.

I drove in the snow. It's not that bad but the car can get squirrely pretty easy hitting a rut.

The car worked fine though

The worst was going up a sheer hill of ice in Memphis. That was pretty scary but it would be with any car.

I find it interesting that all of the photos with the C7's show 1/2" of snow or less?
Around NYC-LI, the plows usually leave 2-3" high areas of plowed and compacted snow at intersections, so you need to be able to drive through those - I am not sure a C7 with all season tires will do so? I don't plan on finding out either.

I drive my c6 anywhere in the tri state area all year around. The c7 will be just as capable. Gm builds the corvette to drive through 3 foot snow banks without an issue.

Not without the right tires. I dropped the Vette off last year for some service work and of course it snowed before they were finished. I had a hard time keeping it on the road and drove it at a snails pace.

How is driving on a clear and dry road but with the temperature below 40 F?

Anyone seen cracking issues in cold temps with non-Z51 tires?

That just means you will be driving your corvette less and why would you want to purposefully do that?

ahh, what's the matter? Little sensitive about where you live?

This whole thread IS about winter driving advice...so pipe down and stop trying to start crap.

Besides, I clearly stated in my post, and you quoted it, that it was your car and you can drive it how you want.

I had 2 C6's (2005 and 2008) drove them both through many Chicago winters with no problems. mounted Blizzaks on one and Sotozero's on the other.

there is no fundamental difference between driving in the summer, in the rain, or in the snow. just keep within your limits as a driver and the car's limits and you will be fine. if you drive over the car's limits or over your limits as a driver, you will be in trouble no matter what the weather.

it's all about knowing how big your friction circle is under all conditions. and keeping a careful lookout for the drivers who don't.

I have driven my C5 for the past 6 winters and I guarantee you that I'm not the only person who drives their Corvettes in winter. I had Blizzaks in the rear and a longer side wall Cooper Weathermasters up front. The Coopers lasted me 4 years with plenty of life left in them by the time I sold my C5 last September and the Blizzaks lasted about 4 years (2 sets). When I picked up my C7 on Dec 20th 2013 I quickly took off the MPSS and put on Continental DWS, now admittedly we didn't have a heck of a lot of snow since I picked up the C7 and on the heavy snow days I drove my Explorer but I will end up buying true winter tires rather than "All Seasons". Being in Medicine Hat you will have a lot of snow I'm sure so if I were you I would start saving for winters now. Just like I said to fellow member and Calgarian Woodson, let me know if you want winters and I'll be happy to get you a great deal on them because I work at a car dealership so I get cost on tires, I deal with Tire Wholesalers and Kal Tire. PM me if you have any questions.

Oh and in answer to your question, it's easy as pie driving in winter conditions, just give yourself plenty of space and time, watch out for the high points in between the ruts and try to avoid steep hills. If you find yourself losing traction on get up and goes, turn the TC off until you get going, it's a pain in the a$$ when it kicks in when you're trying to move.

Thanks monk for the reply. I too have driven my C6 for the last 2 winters with no trouble at all.
To my question though about all the top side open vents on the C7...does snow getting in there affect performance at all? Don't have the open topsides on the C6.

Sorry, I didn't read all of your question. The snow or water for that matter won't affect the performance of the car in the least.

OP was not asking if it is possible to drive in the winter. Try again.

It's all about personal choice, and any sane Corvette owner will admit that a Corvette is not the best choice for winter driving. Low ground clearance, high horsepower and summer tires may be OK in light snow (maybe a couple inches) but in my part of NY state we get snow in feet, not inches. Anyone that chooses to drive their Corvette in snow may be safe in doing so as long as they keep it slow, but still not a good idea in my opinion. That's why I purposefully choose to drive my Corvette less, I'll drive it in good weather months.

In your owners manual they list Winter Snow tires. Just got my set from TireRack.

Driving is fine but grip is greatly reduced. I wouldn't want to make an unexpected quick maneuver.
