Muting the stereo doesn't pause your music..
How annoying is that?
I get it for the radio.. but if you're playing something from Pandora or from an SD card/flash drive, muting should pause the music..

Don't recall the last piece of audio equipment I owned where mute also paused the music. Foreign/domestic cars, home audio, home theater, computer, phone and so on.

OF course, if you are using the GPS, it turns that off too!
I have asked that GM consider a software update via customer service, and thru my dealer, as directed by customer service. I did receive a response from GM!
It's WORKING AS DESIGNED !
SO, if they hired a designer who's an idiot, all 35,000+ owners will just have to live with it.

You can pause the song. Press the (play/pause) button on the infotainment screen to pause the music on SD card & XM radio, not sure about Pandora, and push the button again to play the music.

Becha "pausing" the playback would do precisely what you are trying to accomplish by "muting". Aren't they two distinctly different operations?

Pause and Mute are 2 necessarily different functions in my book. Of course, if that's your main gripe about the car, you must be loving it!

If you mute your TV does the picture stop? If you mute your radio at home does the broadcast stop?
Why would mute = pause?
Why would mute = pause?

Pressing the "MUTE" button on your DVD player doesn't pause your movie either, that's why there's a "PAUSE" button.

I thought about this even more. When I mute my phone not only can I still move freely in time but I still make noise and can talk to the people around me. All phones are junk and everyone of these POSs need to be recalled.
