Default Muting the stereo doesn't pause your music..

How annoying is that?

I get it for the radio.. but if you're playing something from Pandora or from an SD card/flash drive, muting should pause the music..

Don't recall the last piece of audio equipment I owned where mute also paused the music. Foreign/domestic cars, home audio, home theater, computer, phone and so on.

.. and if you hold the button for a while the radio goes off and the playback stops....

OF course, if you are using the GPS, it turns that off too!

I have asked that GM consider a software update via customer service, and thru my dealer, as directed by customer service. I did receive a response from GM!

It's WORKING AS DESIGNED !

SO, if they hired a designer who's an idiot, all 35,000+ owners will just have to live with it.

This is the norm for almost anything that plays music. Your Audi and Lexus are exceptions.

I don't think it's strange. When you mute your TV, the show keeps playing.

You can pause the song. Press the (play/pause) button on the infotainment screen to pause the music on SD card & XM radio, not sure about Pandora, and push the button again to play the music.

Everything I use has a difference between mute and pause. There's something wrong if it doesn't work like that.

Becha "pausing" the playback would do precisely what you are trying to accomplish by "muting". Aren't they two distinctly different operations?

What if you don't want to listen to a certain verse in a song that's on your playlist. Or if the song starts with some inane conversation that you just don't want to listen to one more time?

Pause and Mute are 2 necessarily different functions in my book. Of course, if that's your main gripe about the car, you must be loving it!

If you mute your TV does the picture stop? If you mute your radio at home does the broadcast stop?

Why would mute = pause?

Duh. I also noticed it doesn't pause the radio programming. I'm sure GM will have this under a recall.

Now that it's been brought up, I also notice that the pause button doesn't stop time. These cars are just junk!

Pressing the "MUTE" button on your DVD player doesn't pause your movie either, that's why there's a "PAUSE" button.

I thought about this even more. When I mute my phone not only can I still move freely in time but I still make noise and can talk to the people around me. All phones are junk and everyone of these POSs need to be recalled.
