Why no factory option for gray or dark gray wheels?
I ended up ordering the black z51 type wheels but I'm pretty disappointed GM did not offer some version of wheels in competition gray like they did on the C6. The black looks cool in some color combos but doesn't really show off the shape and design of the z51 split spokes very well. Silver and chrome are available but don't provide much contrast? I didn't see many C6s with the comp grayou but when I did they looked much better than the other colors by far.
How many of you would have preferred competition gray over black?

The Comp Grey colored wheels will probably be offered MY '16. Keeping it fresh.

I would have opted for comp gray as well. I'm not a fan of black, and the chrome was too much bling for my taste-at least on this body style. The silver painted were my only option, but they can always be changed out for comp gray when available or an aftermarket variation.

My preference was comp grey. Since it isn't offered, I ordered my Torch Red coupe with the base silver wheels. They'll be immediately replaced with a set of Finspeed's F11 wheels similar to the wheel shown here. (The pictured wheel is for a Uni-lug Porsche, but is the same basic style and color as the one's I've ordered.) Finspeed is manufacturing these wheels to factory C7 width and offset specs (yes, they clear the Z51 calipers) and is machining them to accept the factory center caps.

I think that the 2009 Comp Grey split spoke wheels were the best looking wheels on a base Vette ever, the spyder wheels on the Z06 were also really cool. My 09 has the comp grey spit spokes ( I may be a little biased ), the car is machine sliver and looks really good. If GM will quit raising the price of the car and offer grey wheels then I will really be excited. Not that anyone cares, but I have been priced out of the C7, hope to win the lotto or buy a nice used one in the spring.

You can get the all new Spectra Grey wheels on the Corvette. You have to step up to the Z06 to get them, tho.
I bet something similar will be offered down the line for Stingray.

I remember seeing pics of a '12 Inferno Orange GS with competition gray wheels on a dealer website. Thought that was a killer color combo. Probably work similar with the new orange. How much to have the factory wheels done properly? Probably just easier to buy gray wheels I suppose...

I had my own made. This is Hyper Silver, a true 3 step process. Black powder coat base, silver paint middle and clear powder coat top.

Brake dust gray went the way of Jake decals, as most trendy wheel finishes usually do. It now looks dated. The wheel finishes most likely to stand the test of time are silver and chrome.
