They have always shipped vettes direct.. this will add 2-3 weeks on shipping ....Not good ....!!!!
I suggest you take a gander at Google Maps and view the Bowling Green plant. On the west side of the rear storage lot you will still see evidence of the two railroad tracks that were used to load the Corvettes for shipment by train. The third track was for delivering parts by rail to the plant. Then GM stopped the train shipments and went 100% with trucks. Then with the 2014 C7, GM started back using rail shipments for long distance destinations. Instead of the railroad bringing auto racks to the plant(which would also mean that a diesel switcher would have to be available to move the rail cars round), GM now loads the cars on trucks at the assembly plant and they are shipped to a dedicated railroad loading facility in Toledo, OH where they will sit until the railroad picks them up. Then they go to a dedicated unloading facility in timbucktoo, where they are unloaded and then loaded onto trucks for final delivery to the dealer.
Anything to save a dollar. Even if it pisses off their customers.
