Default Using PDR as a daily dash cam?

Can the 15 be used a daily dash cam? I live in SoCal and most drivers are crazy and I really want to be able to document any idiots out there.

Thanks,

Mark

Southern Ontario Canada has it share of crazies and I certainly plan to use my PDR as a dash cam.

I am reasonably certain that a C7 will attract idiots as well as genuine admirers.

If it is not documented it never occurred.

Remember, the PDR is recording your data too. If you're in an incident, the recorded data testifies both ways.

So driving over the speed limit or weaving will be documented now. Just an FYI.

PDR can be configured to not show all that data on the screen at the same time.

'15' Stingrays with PDR should be a big hit in Russia based on all the Youtube videos showing really stupid and scary driving/wrecks. I think everyone has a GoPro stuck to their windshield.

Oh wait, I think part of the current economic sanctions is no Stingrays can be sold to Russia.

Can the PDR be set to automatically record every time you start, and to loop over from the beginning when the memory capacity is reached?

PDR SHOULD have been sold as a "DashCam" instead of a track tool Especially since it's connected as an option to Navigation...Silly. I won't be paying $1800 for "NAV"

I believe you can record up to 800 minutes on a 32 gig SD card. That's the only place the data is recorded. If you don't want someone to see the data, don't give them the SD card. If you need it to prove your innocence in an accident and you're recording all of you driving, then you have it if you need it.

I recorded a short trip last Monday with no overlay. When I looked at the file in the Cosworth Toolbox, it displayed my maximum speed. FYI.

Definitely not a court room defense tool. Designed as a race track training aid. A $1,000 play thing for most of us!

Definitely not a court room defense tool.

And why not? Say the other driver runs a red light with no witnesses and says you ran the light. Your word against his. I'd want the video.

My bet is this is how 90% of the vettes with this system will be used (dash Cam) it was a nice concept but should have been a stand alone system for those that will use it for what it was designed for IMO. Having it bundled with the GPS is nothing short of convenient for Chevy...again IMO

It won't record automatically, but you are looking at a maximum of three button presses to get it recording. The Home hard key, then PDR and Start recording on the screen. It does not lock out the rest of the display, and you can go back to using the stereo or navigation.

But the data is still there if you put the sd card in a computer and run the gm software

Yes in the Teen mode or Valet mode it will erase the oldest recordings when sd card is full. Remember a 32 gb card will run 10 hours
Each time a new recording starts it is a new file.

If you were in an accident remove the sd card and eat it, if it was your fault, also chew it up real good
