Would you add PDR functionality to your 2014?

As such, the telemetry wasn't able to keep up with the video and it makes the data not really useful when you import it in to the Cosworth Toolbox for analysis. You get a nice video and lagging data and information so it isn't useful as a driver's aide for improving lap times and racecraft.
This is why I stated that in order to add it to the 2014 it will mean reduced functionality.
The underpinnings of the software and hardware are there in 2014 cars. We have the slot and the wiring for the camera. This will tie in to the infotainment system screen. The framework is there for the app to be installed and we have an SD card slot in the center console. The new wiring harness for the 2015 PDR also adds a dedicated SD Card slot in the glove box. There is basically a brand new nervous system installed in the 2015's for the PDR.
It was planned for 2014 but it wasn't going to be a workable feature to accomplish what the goals were for the system. It wasn't held back because they felt it was ready and they just wanted to wait. It just wasn't going to work as designed in the '14 without new hardware. The hold was to design the new hardware and work out the install.

I never have understood the multiple USB ports and the SD card slot in the 2014. Would think adding the PDR card slot in the glove box would not be a big deal if necessary.

I am more interested in a better Nav and internet connectivity than the PDR. If I had to buy the camera part to get the above, I would consider it.
I view GM's finally acknowledging the following as a step forward.
"In my opinion, GM’s move is a very smart one. Its previous connected car approach put too much pressure on GM to build a big app ecosystem; something it or any automaker isn’t equipped to do. It also required drivers to buy often expensive data plans from a single carrier AT&T (GM also announced at CTIA that it would bring OnStar 4G connectivity to Europe under its Opel brand). AT&T will still supply connectivity for OnStar systems and GM’s own homegrown apps, but drivers will no longer be required to sign up for a data plan to access services like streaming."
Another quote from same article:
"And Automakers have long development cycles and when GM was developing its infotainment strategy, CarPlay and Android Auto didn’t even exist as concepts. Both programs were only officially announced at Google’s perspective developer events this year, and it was around that time that GM decided to switch gears, Chan said.
The only drawback is that new GM car buyers will find their cars a lot less connected than originally promised. Pandora is available in the MyLink system and will connect to the Pandora app in your smartphone. GM has its OnStar navigation and assistance apps, XM radio and a hotspot router that will let you to distribute the car’s LTE connection to other devices via Wi-Fi."

Bottom line, I would be very interested in an upgrade on my 2014 MyLink System, and would take the PDR if it was part of it, but not at all interested in a stand alone PDR. Wish GM had spent the time and money they spent on the "new" (1990's) OnStar 4G LTE cell phone with "hotspot", on connectivity with MyLink and my smartphone. GM needs to address the demographics of their buyers. The younger buyers look at connectivity, and could care less about a built in cell phone. Same can be said about Sat Radio, to some extent, as more streaming services come on line via the internet, that you can customize. They want their smartphones (that are constantly being upgraded) to be the link to these services.

I really like Cruiter's idea. I've been looking at Harry's Laptimer software and the OBD unit since I got my 2013 a couple of months ago.
Although it doesn't look too difficult to get a pencil camera and install it with the same software like RUNUTZZZZZ did.
But I would really like to add the performance data too like for Harry's Laptimer.

I would definitely add it. Wanted a green vert so got a 2014, but almost got a blue 2015 just because of the PDR. Running a curvy road or on the track with it makes it worth it.

I (and my wife) autocross a lot, and I do some track days too.
Part of competing is to try to do better. I have seen what the 2015 PDR
can provide, and I WANT IT !!!!
But if it entails a whole tone of $$$$ (nothing over $1500), or involves
a whole ton of labour to put in a new wiring harness, more sensors,
a better (faster) GPS, then I am not so sure.
I could get everything I want with a mini dashcam, and an ODBII plug
which can read the various sensors, and then associated software.
So, I'm IN, but with reservations.

If an aftermarket solution became available from GM and Cosworth, to retrofit a version of the PDR, would you add it to your 2014 Corvette?
Bear in mind that it may mean slightly less performance or that it may mean fewer features.
For me, as someone who will put my Corvette on the track a couple of times a year as well as someone who likes to record favorite drives with my GoPro on the windshield, I'd add it in a heartbeat if it became available and it was an straight forward retro-fit.

BLACKBOX FDX1000. Between $600 and $800 w/installation. Bought it in Northern VA from 'Safe & Sound". Like I stated it is very similar, not exact. Dual camera system. Front camera mounted right under the rear view mirror. Unable to mount rear camera since I have a convertible.
